Cool. We kicked their butts there in 2010. Leshoure ran for 330 yards.

I’ll be there, just like I was in 2010! Last time, they did EVERYTHING possible to keep Illini fans out. Other than the standard allotment given to visiting fans, they restricted all other sales to NU student and season ticket holders first. There was “supposed to” be about 5k Illini fans (~12% of the crowd). It ended up being closer to 50/50, which was an amazing turnout by our fan base given those circumstances.

If they just sell tickets normally this time around, we need to absolutely PACK that place like Iowa did this year … our honor as Chicago’s actual team depends on it. 😎

8/31 vs Eastern Illinois 11:00 CT/12:00 ET BTN
9/7 vs Kansas 6:30 CT/7:30 ET Peacock
9/14 vs Central Michigan 2:30 CT/3:30 ET BTN
9/21 @ Nebraska 6:30 CT/7:30 ET FOX
9/28 @ Penn St. 2:30 CT/3:30 ET CBS
10/12 vs Purdue 11:00 CT/12:00 BTN
10/19 vs Michigan 2:30 CT/3:30 ET FS1
10/26 @ Oregon 2:30 CT/3:30 ET NBC
11/2 vs Minnesota 11:00 CT/12:00 ET BTN
11/16 vs Michigan St. 11:00 CT/12:00 ET Peacock
11/23 @ Rutgers 11:00 CT/12:00 ET BTN
11/30 vs Northwestern (possibly in Wrigley)
If in Wrigley I would maybe say 2:30 CT/3:30 ET CBS
Not at Wrigley I would say 2:30 CT/3:30 ET BTN
Reasoning for Nebraska game on FOX. Nebraska is a historically good program and they have a really easy schedule next year until that game against OSU. They might be undefeated coming into that game against us. I just have that feeling that they might be the Colorado of next year where everyone hyped them up when they were 3-0, then their season falls off a cliff after that.

I don't have a good place to post this, so please move if needed Dan, but I thought you all might like to see this YouTube video about the Illinois-Mizzou football rivalry. I attended the 2007, 08, and 09 games during my undergrad and am glad that there will be another 4x game stretch starting in a few years.

If the link does not work, look up 'dalukes' channel and search for "What is the Arch Rivalry? Missouri vs. Illinois and Braggin' Rights"

i am really genuinely excited for homecoming to be in september against a team we really have no business losing to.

i try to go back for homecoming every year and i do a lot of stuff that is NOT football related. there have been three homecoming wins since i graduated (14, 19, 22) and five everyone-leaves-at-halftime type losses (13, 16, 17, 18, 21). i get wanting homecoming to be a conference game. it's a good goal to aspire to, but until we're there we should try to ensure that we're having fun at the thing.

This is the type of stuff I love on this board.

Love this!

However I do think that the stars are aligned to the Michigan game being FOX Big Noon Kickoff. OSU, PSU and Washington are all on byes that weekend, and the historical aspect is such a great storyline. Unless the first half of the season goes poorly (and even if it does) it would be hard to pass it up. UW/NW, Iowa/MSU and USC/Maryland are the main alternatives in the BIG.

It really depends on our record coming into that game...

vs. Eastern Illinois
vs. Kansas
vs. Central Michigan
at Nebraska
at Penn State
vs. Purdue

Michigan will represent the beginning of the second half of our season. If we go into that game 2-4, nobody outside of the Land of Lincoln will care about the anniversary, and it will be a footnote game on FS1 or BTN. If we go in at 3-3, it will probably still be on BTN but might be just exciting enough that it still feels like there is some proper hype/coverage of the significance of playing Michigan in Grange's stomping grounds. If we are 4-2 or better (especially if we pull an upset in Lincoln or State College), then you are likely looking at a Big Noon Kickoff opportunity, IMO, and a truly hyped game.

Big Noon obviously loves Michigan (4 of their 9 Big Ten games were Big Noon Kickoff last year), and they will deliver great ratings no matter what. However, Illinois has also proven that it delivers good ratings in good time slots - in other words, we are not a "bad draw" holding all else equal and you get us off BTN, and we are actually a good one. Add on the fanfare of the anniversary, the significance of it being Michigan and maybe even the fact that they snubbed us so badly last year, and we'd have a great shot at it. Fingers crossed!

Meet the coach: Illini DBs coach David Gibbs

I'm impressed with Coach Gibbs. Seems like a down to earth guy and a thoughtful and effective communicator. I think his group and the team in general will like him making it easier to coach them. He reminds me of various, very capable high school position coaches I have met here in Georgia over the years. I think he will be a ++ recruiter.

Can someone tell me how I am supposed to feel about this "potential" hire?

247 Recruiting Record for Archie is, um, lacking.

Yeah that's the one concern I have(Bullen had 4 commits in one year of recruiting which is pretty good I think) and Archie has been at Houston for 3 years.
