PLEASE let us not see this kind of panic from the Illini in the Dance tournament.

This is a veteran team. Well, at least they are supposed to be.
They are a veteran team only in age. Look at how the home games against Nebraska and Indiana ended. A veteran team plays more consistently. This team is not consistent. They're only consistent at being inconsistent. It's too late in the season for excuses.

That's because in the BIG this year the home team has won over 70% of the time. To prove you are a legitimate contender in the tournament, you have to win these type of games... not collapse at the end of games.
And to add, this is two games in a row where the team collapsed near the end. The team was rather lucky to get to OT vs Nebraska after blowing a double digit lead.

The talent is clearly there, but the team lacks that killer instinct right now. I knew the game slipped away when Coleman dove to the ground after a shot (looking for foul) and never got back on defense to allow a transition 3 (cut lead from 6 to 3).

Ah no, not seeing that. They looked pretty happy the several times they were up 8. I do think that BU blew this game more than the players. He’s the one who needs to get his act together by March. A good coach could take this uber talented team really far

That can't be the thought process 7 minutes out. We literally didn't score for 7 minutes. If we were even marginally competent, we would have been shooting free throws to close it out.
Correct, but we don't lose anything with TY being in there. Brings the ball up, excellent passer, best post player and by the way he rebounds and present challenges on defense. Luke doesn't do any of those things, like none as you saw him getting abused on that end. I like Luke, but he is a time and place type player.

Still waiting for a real legitimately good win.
This is a great point. And this is the very reason why this team might lose in R2. I predicted they would lose this game, but beat Maryland on the road.

If they can do that, then there's hope, because I think a win in College Park can be a springboard type of game.

Xs and Os aside, we look like a team that is absolutely emotionally drained. Think the TSJ stuff took more of a toll (and is still) than we realize.

Maybe I’m oversimplifying things, but we don’t look like a team that’s having fun right now. Totally opposite of what I saw before TJ went out.

Can’t base everything on feeling, but this certainly feels like a team primed for an upset to a scrappy, less talented 11-12 seed…

For sure, the fun is gone. What have Amani, DGL, Dainja, and Rodgers have to be happy about? Brad playing fast and loose with what was the best locker room we've had in a long time. He's had a hard job, but that's no excuse for what looks an awful lot like reliably bad game management.

Ty was not the most effective today. But he wasn't in much and not having a BAD day. We all know that unless Harmon or Goode are having special games, Ty is the best choice to scrap out a win when things start to tighten up.

Not gonna overreact to the L, but yeah, we have GOT to clean up the interior defense…Luke is being hunted out there and got abused by Hall. We can’t exhibit such a complete lack of poise down the stretch like that. As others have pointed out that’s exactly how you get bounced in the tourney. Really hope the staff learns from this one. Go beat Juwan again on Tuesday.
I can't say I'm confident about playing Michigan either. We are just not playing a complete 40 mins the last several games. Michigan just beat Whisky so have the confidence to take us down too. We don't play our home games like a home team. This could be a close game.

I am not impressed with Beilein as an analyst.
He has the problem a lot of guys do when they make the switch of thinking the audience is just clueless about the actual game and just speaking in pablum.

The best analysts are the ones who can make their knowledge of the game accessible.

Robbie Hummel is a fantastic new entrant to the scene. Bilas is great. He's divisive but I always think Dan Dakich is really good.

we got outscored 24-8 to end the game..........2 of the worst turnovers you will ever see Domask make in his career at the end took the life out of us,,,,,,
every shot down low by msu was a and 1 late in the game ........
1 FG in the last 7+ minutes was a stone cold streak we have from time to time.....
not having Ty in the game the last 6-7 minutes is a headscratcher as he jumps the energy up big time....
booty ball is NOT a good scheme to use against msu especially when they pack the paint.......
cohawk with a very interesting game.....14 pts......7 assists.........4 steals but only 3 rebs.......and 1 technical foul......4 fouls total
Wouldn't be so concerning if we didn't just have this happen the game before this one.

If we can't win road games against even average teams, that is going to be a problem. We still have Maryland, Penn St, Wisconsin, Iowa on the road. Can we even win 2 of those?
If they beat Maryland, then I think they're going to sweep these damn teams, although I mentioned earlier that this team is inconsistent.

I am drinking my Kool-Aid right now and trying to be positive.

Frankly, we need to be playing our best basketball next month. We have a lot to work on but I am confident we will get there. I did not expect us to win today but we had a chance.

Winning the conference title is great but I would rather make it to the sweet 16. Hopefully, we will be playing angry come tournament time.
