Interesting list - really shows our dropoff last year on defense. If only we could have matched Year 1 scoring defense, would have shown up in W-L record

This season should not be viewable to children under the age of 16. One offensive touchdown between September 28th and November 7th.

Eh I don't blame kids for valuing themselves highly. It's a necessary attitude to have in this day and age as well in a sport where you have to compete for playing time and your career is over in the blink of an eye.

The problem is the lack of regulations, not that kids value their own skill.

This is a nothing burger. Mis-interpreting your position or asking for something outrageous happens all the time in sports. Still feel like this is more about coaches trying to point out how hard their life is now with NIL.

I think as in all things College Football rarely anything is done right. From the BCS, which no one liked, to the Wild West NIL and portal the attempts to respond to reasonable desires of the players is just wrong and unworkable. For decades all players needed and wanted was a stipend but we couldn’t do that so schools cheated. Rule enforcement, discipline, probation was another inconsistent cluster.

Why is it even called NIL? Most of the players getting paid aren’t doing much publicly. I understand because of the tremendous amount of money in the sport it is logical to share a portion of that with the players but there has to be a better way.

It's not overvalued their skills if there are schools out there shelling out 6 figures for a backup RB or are even saying that they would.

There are no guidelines here. Schools are tampering with players not even in the portal. That's not solely on the athletes.

Realistically how many 3rd string running backs do you think are making 100k. Also how many programs have that kind of money to pay a 2nd or 3rd string rb like that. Besides Johnny Newton I doubt any one at Illinois came close to making 100k

A lot of kids get bad advice from parents and handlers.

The number of 3rd string running backs who make 100K is not the point. The point is that there's nothing in place to create a fair playing field or anyone who can help keep these players from derailing their own careers while their lame duck head coaches with tens of million dollars in buyouts.

Kaleb Jackson at LSU was 5th in rushing yards for them but on3 has him listed as worth about 100K.

yup
NIL is not published and is not public info

no one knows what these guys get except their attys & accountants
Maybe we should pay players per stat...... $500/per tackle, 1,000 per reception......5,000 for a fumble recovery.....Hmmmm...it's the next step in the madness.
