End of 1st. Make layups and we are up 5 instead of down, 10-15

Ugly. Down 22 27 at half. Shooting 9 of 35. Out rebounded 26 16. Winning turnovers 13 6. Can't believe the shots we are missing, normal shooting and we are up 8 to 10. we need to block out, someone besides bostic and hobby need to rebound. Male ref is horrible

At least ugly game for both sides.

Clark had 31 points at end of 3rd quarter in Iowa game earlier. Iowa up 14, Clark went scoreless in 4th and Nebraska won by 3.

Need a comeback 4th quarter

Once of the worst officiated games I have ever seen. That being said, my God ladies?! I have never seen a team shoot so badly, consistently, on their home floor! Maryland had 20 turnovers & you didn’t do a damn thing with most of them!! Get your heads on straight! I’m so sorry that Shauna’s mother had to see that!

And we're essentially bringing back the same team (minus our best player Hobby) next year? Why?
It would be nice to get a big guard to start ahead of Bryant or Cook. And a legitimate big that can defend the post.

Coach Shauna Green will be on the WDWS coaches show from the Esquire Lounge from 5pm-6pm this evening (Monday, February 12th). If you can't attend, tune in to 1400-AM.

Unscientific observation: Dolan and McKenzie are both listed at 5-10. Jackson at 5-11. In the pic on the previous page Adalia looks significantly shorter than both.

Discuss :)

Green is always working......

Anyone else notice top 25 recruits in 2025 class Divine Bourrage and Destiny Jackson at the last game?

Bourrage has been here before but I'd expect her to go with Iowa if they have a scholarship available. Her high school teammate, Journey Houston, has already committed to them and Bourrage plays for the same AAU team as Caitlyn Clark did. Bluder has strong support in Davenport from her time coaching at St. Ambrose and, frankly, Iowa has a much better presence in the Quad Cities than Illinois does. One thing in our favor is Bluder's age. I doubt that she will be there through Bourrage's entire tenure.

Not sure if we will land Bourrage but definitely think we will be one of the finalists for her. I find it more impressive Green is already bringing in top recruits to check out this program. Bourrage came in December and already back again in February. Bourrage is a top 10 prospect and made these comments lately.....

“I like to make a name for myself, all these programs have a lot of big-name athletes going there. I like to think I'm a big-name athlete myself. I want to help make a school big. I feel like I could help make a program name big and mine." - Divine Bourrage ‘25

On a sidenote to what you put....Iowa has a real nice recruiting class coming in next season. Clark needs to leave! Big Ten will only get stronger/harder next season with addition of USC/UCLA. Clark is the biggest name, but JuJu Watkins is putting on a show at USC and will see her more next season firsthand.

JuJu Watkins FR 6'2 guard

27.7 points/gm

6.9 rebounds/gm

3.5 assists/gm

2.6 steals/gm

1.7 blocks/gm

Shauna has to upgrade talent level with more/better portal players.

Hobby was a nice boost. Bollin has had no impact.

We need 2 bigs and 2 guards from portal for next year.

Our guards are still midgets. Bostic is our only reliable big and she is SR. Does she have Covid year eligibility?

Yes, Bostic has a covid year, as do Cook and Bryant and Ndour. If they all take them and no underclassmen leave, we have one open scholarship.

She already has upgraded talent. She will continue to do so

Casual fans who didn't watch Illinois before Green got here forget how much of a dumpster fire this program has been since the 90s. Fahey had a 7-77 record in conference play for 5 seasons before Green. The talent level is up, just transition period

No doubt we need more talent. Height is less of an issue with guards if you land top level guards at the collegiate level. Each year there are 5'6 guards that are big time players. Need a mix of more talent and if height comes with it than great. It will depend who transfers out/comes back for scholarship spots.

Yes

Bostic, Cook and Bryant all do. Green said all 3 are more than welcome back. They also have the option to be done, transfer out or play another season with the Illini. Bostic is in Master's program, she will be back unless something comes out of left field. I don't think Ndour will be back.

Expecting both Dewey and Jackson back?

What I want and know are two different things. I will say I thought Dewey was gone after last season. Dewey/Jackson could transfer out and get playing time at lower level. You could say that about Rhodes, others as well. Not sure where the mindset is right now.

Big decision for those with extra Covid year and who decide to stick around. We had 2 transfer out last season and wouldn't be surprised if movement again this offseason.

One thing I was wondering is if they would use 15 scholarships under Green. They have used 13-14 roster spots for years. 13-14 are Dewey and Jackson and barely see the court. If majority come back than maybe they would use that extra spot for immediate help.

Agreed we are 3x better than under Fahey. But we were one of worst D1 programs in the country under Fahey.

I would like to be upper division B10 next year. Going to be tougher with UCLA and USC joining.

Compared to top B10 teams we play weak defense and are ineffective offensively. The transfer portal is best way to rebuild on the fly. We need good upperclassmen to mix with recruits. We need guards that can pass and defend.
