If we draw ISU as an under seeded #12 I’m going to NCAA headquarters to riot. I know they’re flirting with top 25, but computer rankings aren’t as high on them. This team has 5 seed first round upset by 12 seed written all over it.

This. The sum of the parts is SO MUCH greater than the whole. So if we have 3 really good defenders in Coleman, Ty, and TSJ, and 2 decent defenders in Marcus and Quincy, anyone have thoughts on why we can’t play defense?
Did something change from when the early season metrics had us as a top 10 defense?Agree ... My problem is Brad thought having Hamer as DC was a good idea, to begin with ... Then to continue to go with it ... That's something ...

I hear you, and he should be commended for what he's done with the program. However, it's time to be an "elite" team--a term he uses often. It's time to take that next step. For me, after last year's debacle and how some of these games are going this year, he is not an "elite" coach. How long do we have to accept this?I've been pretty vocal in this thread but the only reason I'm this mad is because we are actually GOOD so losing games is surprising. The reason we are in this position in the first place is BU. It's all to easy to remeber when winning games was a surprise.
Me neither, lol! And they deserve to hear it, good and hard.I would not want to be in that locker room. Can only imagine what Brad said to them, especially Coleman
I can imagine. Missing 2 FTs and fouling a 3 pt shooter was just the culmination. His head wasn’t in the game from the start. Easily his worst game.
I guess that tells us how important Coleman is to this team. TJ with a career high. Double them up on rebounds. But Coleman has his worst game? We still lose.
If Hawkins had his head in the game and played like a good college player much less a future NBA player then we win easily. Probably removed from draft boards after today. Too much fun for him after Maryland. Not professional or consistent.: eye roll :
I respect your optimism, but I don't think this team can still beat anyone--especially the way they've been playing. We shall see, though, and I certainly hope I am wrong. This is just the nature of college basketball. Anyone can beat anyone. Not making excuses for the poor execution down the stretch but this team can still beat anyone and should have an opportunity for an exciting run in March.
The coaches need to go in a room and yell at each other if you ask me.I would not want to be in that locker room. Can only imagine what Brad said to them, especially Coleman
The late game collapses are a trend now.Meh … it’s one game. Move on.
The problem with Coleman switching onto guards is that it leaves the paint wide open for cutters to slash to the rim. That’s been our Achilles heel all season. He gives us so much on both offense (3pt shooting) and defense (switching into guards) that it's almost impossible to take him out for long periods and win.
I was hoping that senior year maturity would kick in, but he was flopping all over the court tonight. Every time he doesn't get a foul, he's chirping at the ref and flailing around even harder next time
One game ends your NCAA tournament run too.Meh … it’s one game. Move on.
Like I said before, IMO he has an elite eye for talent, is a great recruiter but a below average strategist and ingame coach.
Get a tactician as an assistant and draw up a freakin in bounds play. It’s not a new problem.
nah, i'll challenge you on this.. a major theme of defensive woes, mental errors, and total implosion. It's a problem and we should rightfully be very concerned.Meh … it’s one game. Move on.
Ha! Great advice! I wish I could, but for this one, I cannot!Meh … it’s one game. Move on.
Maybe BU should have our best FT shooter and ball handler catching the damn in bounds pass.I would not want to be in that locker room. Can only imagine what Brad said to them, especially Coleman
Thought the same thing. I’ll fully admit I sure didn’t appreciate Gentry like I should when he was here…We had a great one ... He's at Gonzaga now ...
We don't have a physical big down low that provides any sort of resistance. Coleman is good at guarding smaller positions but can't play down low. Hansberry is our best low block defenderSo if we have 3 really good defenders in Coleman, Ty, and TSJ, and 2 decent defenders in Marcus and Quincy, anyone have thoughts on why we can’t play defense?
