And then pitching coach Drew Dickinson left his alma mater for the same position at Virginia. And he's done wonders in Charlottesville. Should be an easy decision for Josh to make this summer.
I just looked at the box score for yesterday's debacle. Our pitching staff threw 5 wild pitches (Vols 0), hit 3 batters (Vols 0), and walked 8 batters (Vols 1). Ouch.

This has got to get right. I look back on the sunny days of attending Illini baseball games and expecting either a win or a hard fought battle.
Time to move on and give a solid pitch to Dickinson.
Some other names I’d seriously consider would be Derek Simmons from Indiana, Jordan Brischel HC at Central Michigan, Eric Snider of course.

Illinois baseball took their show on the road to Terre Haute, IN yesterday to visit the Indiana State Sycamores. The Fighting Illini took a 6-1 lead into the 7th inning stretch ... only to have the bullpen give up 6 runs in the bottom of the 7th. Final score Indiana State 7 Illinois 6. It is going to be a L-O-N-G season .... especially when we hit the Big Ten schedule.

I have to ask the obvious question. If we pulled in $65 mln in NIL money last month, wouldn't 1/65th of that go a long way to building a respectable baseball team?
Illinois was down 1-0 to national power house University of Southern Indiana 
last night, and the Fighting Illini were down to their last strike with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth .... and miraculously scored 2 runs for the 2-1 walk-off win. This improves the Illini record to 6-10 for the season.
