Key difference with Spencer is that he played the end of the season and in postseason play(part of the waiver process is not playing the 2nd half of the season). Domask missed the postseason. He cannot get a medical redshirt because he did not lose eligibility the year he was hurt. Others in the same position have applied for the waiver and failed, including Tommy DeVito at Illinois and including Cam Spencer at UConn literally a week ago.
To the extent insiders are reporting optimism among our staff, our staff has misguided optimism on this question.
The insider chatter on DeVito from the football staff was "hey, it's worth a shot". It was. It is on Domask. But the culture of optimistic tea leaf grasping around here is developing a wrong impression about the ability of Domask to get an extra year of eligibility.
If he does, yesI think Kylan Boswell would look just swell in the Orange & Blue.. Insiders.. if he were to enter the portal, would we be the assumed leader to land him? I'll hang up and listen. TY
Maybe Dior Johnson (as previously hinted at). *shrug*
My semi-realistic transfer options (and who the hell knows if any of these guys will actually transfer?):
- Storr (but I'm still surprised to see all the rumors about this one)
- Johnson (lots of competition for him, I'm sure, and I'm not sold he's a fit given his past legal issues)
- CJ Jones (UIC)
- Kylan Boswell (although is he a realistic option?!?)
Players I'm curious about, due to coaching change or lack of PT:
- Jalen Washington (UNC)
- Seth Trimble (UNC)
- Xavier Johnson (SIU) -- COVID year still? Also, he's short. Hmm.
- Tre White (Louisville)
I’ll just say I didn’t say we’re number one now based off a rumor of us getting a donation…..
Yes, @Indy Illini Fan & @illini0440 posted a photo together just the other dayDo the insiders on the board know each other in real life? If so do they know who each other are on this board?
Also fits in with my dream lineup of only playing guys between 6'6-7'0 which they kinda do this year but could use a big pg type to round it out.
Idk. I like 6’4” or 5” guys who are quick and can defend (e.g., Ayo). It’s always nice to have a couple of these type of players. Also fits in with my dream lineup of only playing guys between 6'6-7'0 which they kinda do this year but could use a big pg type to round it out.
Hey Insiders (@Indy Illini Fan @illini0440 @DB11Headband @LvilleILL @stuemke5 etc.), who are we missing on this list (obv can't mention names but maybe programs that will have HC changes/players IL would have a good chance at))? Any names bigger than these? I'm racking my brain, trying to think of teams that will have head-coaching changes/players that will transfer that Undy has a previous relationship with. Maybe Cam Corhen?Maybe Dior Johnson (as previously hinted at). *shrug*

$1,000,000 NIL going to go a lot further in Urbana than Malibu! How would they keep him down in Malibu after he’s seen gay Champaign-Urbana?
Agreed. Taller is better only if the player legitimately has the skills for the position. And fielding a lineup 6'7 to 7'0 guys with the skills to play their position is impossible in college ball and very difficult even in the NBA.Idk. Okay, now "@Indy Illini Fan as Zach Hamer" needs to become the newest IL meme.Yes, @Indy Illini Fan & @illini0440 posted a photo together just the other day

I Sencirely believe we will have a solution to that problem for next seasonEven this season, we are vulnerable to quick guards as our 6'6 perimeter players aren't especially quick.
