He cannot get a medical redshirt because he did not lose eligibility the year he was hurt. Others in the same position have applied for the waiver and failed, including Tommy DeVito at Illinois and including Cam Spencer at UConn literally a week ago.

To the extent insiders are reporting optimism among our staff, our staff has misguided optimism on this question.

The insider chatter on DeVito from the football staff was "hey, it's worth a shot". It was. It is on Domask. But the culture of optimistic tea leaf grasping around here is developing a wrong impression about the ability of Domask to get an extra year of eligibility.
Key difference with Spencer is that he played the end of the season and in postseason play(part of the waiver process is not playing the 2nd half of the season). Domask missed the postseason.

Also, my understanding was that the COVID waiver was for the 2019-2020 season(spring 2020 sports). Domask would get a COVID waiver for his freshman year and then a medical waiver for his sophomore year which could give him 6 years.

Football is a different sport, fall sports were impacted differently and id honestly have to look more into what happened with Devito but I have a hard time believing that the NCAA hasn't approved a single basketball player for a medical waiver in either the 2019-2020 or 2020-2022 season.

A master class troll? No one in SV wants anything to do with Larry. His behavior is that of an egocentric, abusive, entitled, *&*&^. I'd hope UIUC is smart enough to take the warning.

Legal disclaimer (always needed if Larry might be involved): Everything above is a personal opinion.

I think Kylan Boswell would look just swell in the Orange & Blue.. Insiders.. if he were to enter the portal, would we be the assumed leader to land him? I'll hang up and listen. TY

Maybe Dior Johnson (as previously hinted at). *shrug*

My semi-realistic transfer options (and who the hell knows if any of these guys will actually transfer?):
- Storr (but I'm still surprised to see all the rumors about this one)
- Johnson (lots of competition for him, I'm sure, and I'm not sold he's a fit given his past legal issues)
- CJ Jones (UIC)
- Kylan Boswell (although is he a realistic option?!?)

Players I'm curious about, due to coaching change or lack of PT:
- Jalen Washington (UNC)
- Seth Trimble (UNC)
- Xavier Johnson (SIU) -- COVID year still? Also, he's short. Hmm.
- Tre White (Louisville)

Trimble goes to Marquette I'd imagine. We can do better than Washington.

I can see him hit the portal as well

Also fits in with my dream lineup of only playing guys between 6'6-7'0 which they kinda do this year but could use a big pg type to round it out.
Idk. I like 6’4” or 5” guys who are quick and can defend (e.g., Ayo). It’s always nice to have a couple of these type of players.

I am not saying that your 0% preduction is incorrect for Hawkins. However based on history and all the money involved it seems premature for Hawkins to just right that option off. Kofi left thinking he would be drafted or make the NBA, last year TSJ wasn't expected back was projected late 30s to early 40s and made an informed choice and it will make him more money. It is very difficult and is far from a given that Coleman who is projected at around 50th overall will make an NBA roster and is certainly not in as good a place as Terrance was last season. I just hope Coleman doesn't just make gut call and go and risk leaving hundreds of thousands of sure fire NIL money on the table if making a NBA roster or making that type of cash isn't a sure thing. It worked out for Terrance coming back and Coleman sitituation is not as bright as what Terrance had last season. I certainly hope BU and staff are recruiting Coleman while advising him to do whats best for him in the long run. Make and informed decision by listening to experts. I just don't understand how these options would not be even considered given the past and how NIL is now.

Hey Insiders (@Indy Illini Fan @illini0440 @DB11Headband @LvilleILL @stuemke5 etc.), who are we missing on this list (obv can't mention names but maybe programs that will have HC changes/players IL would have a good chance at))? Any names bigger than these? I'm racking my brain, trying to think of teams that will have head-coaching changes/players that will transfer that Undy has a previous relationship with. Maybe Cam Corhen?

Agreed. Taller is better only if the player legitimately has the skills for the position. And fielding a lineup 6'7 to 7'0 guys with the skills to play their position is impossible in college ball and very difficult even in the NBA.

Even this season, we are vulnerable to quick guards as our 6'6 perimeter players aren't especially quick.

New question: could Illinois somehow nab John Blackwell from Wisconsin? Dude's pretty good, and so was his Illini dad a long time ago.
