Love that our Illini stomped their throat in the second half with only 7 points from Shannon. Gonna take a team effort to go deep. Today was Dainja's day, whose day is it gonna be on Saturday? Let's go!
I don’t know what happened in that first half. Maybe jitters or something but wow that second half was complete opposite. Dainja is turning it up at the right time.

So thrilled for so many of our players:
1. Domask with the 10th triple double in NCAA tourney history and first since Ja Morant. Offense was not there but he was a willing passer, made the effort on the glass, and then got a few buckets to seal the deal. Even when his offense isn't there, he's doing the extra things to help the team win
2. Dainja with an offensive explosion in the 2nd half. We exploited their big men. So happy for Dain and hopefully the end to this season will keep him in Orange and Blue next season
3. DGL's contributions in the 1st half should not go unnoticed. Played lock down defense and made two key 3 pointers. He was a ball of energy and I'm happy he was able to make a big impact in the 1st half
4. Goode had 3 impactful 3 pointers which was much needed for his confidence
5. Last but not least, Terrence Shannon Jr doing Terrence Shannon Jr things. He put the team on his back in the 1st half and if it wasn't for him, we might be looking at a different outcome.
Let's get past Duquesne and get that Sweet 16 appearance that we have been thirsty for the last 19 yrs

Only was able to watch game when it was 45 - 43 with Dain shooting two free throws. I guess a blowout ensued?
I was very confident going into this game, and I am even more confident against the Duke.
Even if Illinois loses to Duquesne, I still think the Field of 68 showed NO respect at all toward Illinois by picking BYU to reach the Sweet 16. It was a stupid take--shame on them! Yes, BU hasn't been there, but looking at the matchups and this was the conclusion with which they came up?? I've lost all respect for them.

I am happy the broadcast team finally heard me when I kept yelling at them Illinois has lost in the first weekend in that last three years, not the first game...
No jitters. I think Minix and Lathon were just on a heater. They couldn't miss and there were defensive lapses but the offense was still fine. With 15 mins to go, Illini locked down on defense and made their run. Minix and Lathon regressed to the mean and we come out with the win.
Give all credit to Morehead St for playing a really good first 25 mins of the game but they gassed out after that
Duquesne has potential to be the tournament darling with the retiring coach story, but they don't scare me at all. Another double digit victory incoming.
They finally corrected the 3 straight first round loss nonsense. And you are correct about the Harmon miscue.

Duquesne has some good guards but the Illini are on another level. I expect maybe a similar situation where it is close to start and then the Illini rev up the engine and pull away. But, it'll be interesting to see how the Dukes come out playing for their coach and all

Playing more players helps with this too.
I don't think Duquesne did us a favor. I don't think BYU was ever really that good. The metrics worked in their favor but they had clear holes. They beat a Kansas team without McCullar. I think we got a good draw in these first two rounds whether it was BYU or Duquesne. But, hopefully, our guys don't underestimate the power of a retiring coach and what impact that can have on a group of players
