Counting last nights game Amani made 4 3s all season and before last night was 2 of 10. His shot and percentage with a tiny sample size is meh. He may end up being a serviceable 3 point shooter and I think he can but it is way to early to label him as our "shooter". At least he is allowed to shoot and look good last night and thats a very optimistic sign he is improving.
He has decent form and isn’t afraid to take that shot. I don’t consider the number of shots he‘s taken in games a fair sample size.

I agree. Its not enough to label him one way or another just yet. One thing it does look like which is ok is he appears to be a catch and shoot spot up shooter. A solid 3 like Cam Christie that shoot it quickly would be awesome too or Hawkins or someone back who can create a little bit would be nice.

It's something he feels comfortable doing and the staff feels comfortable having him do.

Which is to say, we will see what the results look like at greater volume, but in terms of Hansberry's role on the team, taking perimeter shots clearly appears to be part of it.

When Hansberry arrived in Champaign to begin his freshman year he was 18 years old, competing for his role and position with a 24 year old veteran of two countries, two languages, two other major conferences, and 131 previous college games.

Hansberry will be a year older and more Fletch-ified, and the days of grown men like Guerrier in college basketball will soon recede.

(Btw, a not nice finish to Guerrier's very nice 169 game college career last night. 12 more than anyone in the history of the NCAA prior to Covid.)

Isaacs shot nearly 38% from 3 as a freshman on high volume and is a 85% career free throw shooter.

Was bad this year on high volume but signs would point to that improving and him being a good shooter.

The bigger question mark is the off the court situation. Which you would think the entire athletic department might be hesitant after just going through the Shannon situation.
FWIW, he was playing this year on a really bad hip that will almost certainly require surgery

But what Storr needs is to be a different KIND of player. He has the physical gifts to make strides in that direction, but if he's not going to be anybody's development priority in the pros, why not take the big NIL bag and work with our staff who are going to be seeking the same evolution for him that NBA scouts are?
Of course our staff is seeking that evolution. Is there an indication that Storr is?

I felt that last year's team suffered from Mayer Shannon and Hawkins all having their sites set on the next level and less focused on the evolution. This year Hawkins and Shannon evolved in a positive way that is likely to mean they achieve their dream at the next level.

If Storr comes and takes a year to buy in, it will be rocky.

Happy easter to all of you who celebrate! Going to pick some things up tomorrow, although there is a chance of a Jake Davis commitment today from what I have heard. Regardless, I expect 2-3 transfers out and 5-6 guys to come in, some fourth or fifth years and some multiple eligibility guys.

Staff wants two studs, a primary ball handler, a stretch 4, and a shooter with multiple years (Jake Davis) along with possibly one more guy

Reminds me of the song by Player - “Baby Come Back”. The was a Loyalty poster that changed the song to “Kofi Come Back” a couple years ago…which was an awesome post.
Now’s the time for the remake “Coleman Come Back”.
What say you Loyalty poster…..?
I had completely forgotten about that and it was epic! What a great Easter egg to wake up with, lol!

it’s kinda crazy to think up to about 7 players likely won’t be on the roster next year

I have the same fear.

Now, I don't think there's any indication Storr is a bad guy personally. But there's no other way to describe the way he plays basketball currently than "selfish".

He's also probably the best scorer next year's team can possibly have.

It's a really hard opportunity to turn down in today's college basketball, it's one I really don't think we can turn down. But it's risky.

yea, but so is walking down Michigan avenue , or buying gas at a bunch of places or buying Apple stock

you really can’t pass up a chance to get a guy who can score 18-22 a night

Well, I'd like to think we can be picky.

This year proved culture is king. Last year proved it as well.

All that glitters is not gold.

Happy Easter to you as well. Appreciate the info.

Would one more guy be a big, especially if Dain leaves?

I don’t understand taking Davis this early
Most of the other guys we're talking about are one and dones.

Taking 5 one-and-dones who will all expect major roles in their final season would be a really bad idea, imho. There needs to be more balance and homegrown development than that.

No slight to him, but I like Jake Davis' long term upside more than Jason Jakstys'. That's the way to think about it I think.

Is Wolf totally out of the picture for us? Duke or Northwestern seem most likely.
