-Was at Opening Day. 2 hours and 5 minutes was as brisk of an opener that I can ever recall.

-The team is competitive up to this point, but I am not completely sold on Detroit yet.

God bless the pitch clock! I love it. That's the best addition to baseball in a hundred years.

Plus, no more endless mound visits and throws to first base. You really can't look away from the action anymore or you'll miss something.

Eloy seems to have a weird body shape for baseball. That, or how he carries himself. This just happens too many times to one guy. And the team really needs his offense right now to provide some power to this kind of lineup.

This is truly an act of desperation.

Either Sox management is convinced that the pitching will be so bad this year that they have to bring ‘this’ guy in to not suck worse...

Or, at the very least it is a tone-deaf move and public relations bad step to bring in someone that has had that much of a cloud over his head. And that clearly nobody else in baseball wanted to touch this guy with a ten-foot-pole.

And it’s another bad look for a White Sox owner who is already largely — shall we say... disliked? (there ARE stronger words for him) and who wants to convince other people to pay for his new stadium project.

There is a word – Hutzpah. It is defined as unbelievable gall.. insolence...audacity.

And there is a saying: “If the shoe fits...”

Kansas City-area voters just voted down a sales tax to fund renovations to Arrowhead Stadium and a new downtown ballpark. So, the future of the Chiefs and Royals staying in KC is now in question.

Even with the great success of the Chiefs right now... voters didn’t want to give their money to fund projects that benefit multi-billion-dollar-value private interests called sports franchises.

Is this a look into the future of the White Sox future stadium project? Will the White Sox Owner threaten Chicagoland with packing up his property and going away if he doesn’t get this way? The Sox almost left Chicago a couple decades ago when the current Sox stadium funding was barely approved by legislators at the final minute. And yet, here we may be again.

Will Chicago one day become just a one-baseball-team-town like Boston and St. Louis and Philadelphia?

The Chiefs did not start in Kansas City. The Royals were a replacement for the A's who left Kansas City. But the Sox are pure Chicago. That is... at least so far.

But tomorrow?

Yes. But the problem is that as a City we can end up losing our team. And while there are certainly much bigger problems in life... when you think of all the times you had going to the park over the years and spending quality time with your friends and family watching a sport you love... that is losing something important in your life.

There is nothing sadder than an empty ballpark that simply rots away... and then gets bulldozed one day to put in more condos.

Media Report: The Mayor of Dallas, Texas wants the Chiefs to move to his city.

Well, that’s what happens when you don’t do what billionaires want you to. Franchises start to get inquires from other places at the ready to snag away your team.

If this were ever to happen... this would be RETURN to Dallas because that’s where the Chiefs franchise first started.

And the City of Chicago and White Sox fans will be watching how this plays out. Because the Sox might already have one foot out the door with ownership that’s already played the ‘We’re Gonna Leave!’ card once before.

But sorry, Sox ownership. The Dallas area already has an MLB team. But hey... there’s always Fort Worth! Yee-Haah!

There were other factors at play that led to the Dodgers leaving Brooklyn and the Colts leaving Baltimore. Ebbets Field had outgrown its usefulness, especially with how the vehicular infrastructure at the time. The Colts would have left Baltimore one way or another. That was a ticking time bomb.

And it wasn't Kroenke's fault that the Edward Jones Dome was as much of a dump as it is.

But the reason the Rams moved to St. Louis from So Cal in the '90s WAS the Jones Dome. That's how St. Louis got the approval to move. So the very same dump was used as an excuse for TWO moves for the same franchise - coming and going. Musical-chairs sports franchises. No regard for the fans.

And... St. Louis made a decent offer of a new stadium complex to the Rams to replace The Dump but The Rich Guy wanted no part of that. He had made up his mind to leave St. Louis and had no desire at all to stay. Owners just pick up and leave whenever they want and it's always the-fans-be-damned (and the City and the bond holders, too.)

It always comes down to trust. How much can anybody trust the people who own a franchise. And that's the issue for the White Sox. Ask Sox fans how much they trust The Owner... and be ready for big laughter or loud swearing.

No, they moved from Orange County because of a dwindling fanbase in that area and a deep economic recession due to defense sector layoffs in that part of the country. There was virtually no chance they were going to get a football-only stadium in southern California at that point in time in the '90s. And you may want to do a bit more research as to why Frontiere even got the Rams to St. Louis in the first place and how the Dome was not the main reason for it. Plus the Dome had to be considered in the top 25% of stadiums in the league, which it did not within roughly 10 years of it's opening. While Kroenke does deserve much of the blame, the CVC putting in as little effort as it did, relatively speaking of course, to keep the dome updated certainly didn't help things.

And you act as if I know that Sox fans don't trust Reinsdorf. I have MANY friends that are Sox fans and I have learned full well how much they distrust Jerry.

Reinsdorf is basically the Elvis Presley of American sports owners acting with naked cynical contempt toward their labor, host city and fans. He invented the template everyone else is working from. There have been cheapskates and town-abandoners and anti-labor reactionaries before, but he's the one who made the ideology coherent.

In terms of sports as a part of our mass popular culture, he's one of the most useless and evil men to ever exist, just a truly contemptible person.

When the Rams were playing in Anaheim that stadium was UGLY. A bad environment for both football and baseball with the way that stadium was butchered to accommodate football. Almost anything would have been an improvement from that place. And the lady knew it. I know because I was living there at the time.

St. Louis was hungry for the NFL because they had tried to get an expansion team from the NFL to be called the Stallions. But the ownership group that tried was so bad at their proposal that the league owners gave the expansion franchise to Jacksonville.

St. Louis was now desperate because they had this Dome and nobody to play there. So, it was a marriage of convenience between the Anaheim Rams and St. Louis.

NFL franchises are not for the good of Cities or fans. They are an excuse to generate truckloads of profits for owners, period. In all major sports.

This applies to the Sox Owner. He treats the franchise as his toy and will do whatever he needs to in order to benefit himself alone.

As for the Sox team on the field... they simply cannot generate runs. The only runs they’re getting are from long balls. They cannot put hits together to make enough runs to win games. Several guys in that lineup are under .200 and still sinking.

And playing that way is NOT the way to generate interest in getting funding for a new ball palace.

The reason the Sox have never been the winners they could have been for the last hundred years is that the White Sox have suffered from horrible ownership groups going back to the very beginning. The only good baseball man that ever owned the Sox was Bill Veeck... and he never had any money to work with.

The dome hadn't been built by the time the Rams moved there. That's why they played at Busch II for like a year+ after they first moved.

The dome was part of the convention center. The changes that the Rams and Kroenke were demanding would have shut the convention business down for an extended period of time and cost the city millions in revenue. The Rams knew this and asked for it because they knew the CVC couldn't do it that way, giving them an excuse to move. The CVC proposed an alternate plan that would have implemented the upgrades over a longer period of time, which the Rams immediately rejected before the city proposed an entirely new stadium plan, which the Rams also rejected.

Kroenke was going to move the team to LA. That was his plan all along.

And now that St. Louis has been abused TWICE by the NFL by moving teams away... much of the St. Louis area now hates the NFL.

But the Spring football league game yesterday drew over 40,000 to the place that Kroenke hated. So it wasn't that St. Louis didn't love football. It's that the ChinaMart man had no love for St. Louis.

As for the Sox... their starting lineup today has these great hitters:

.000 - Grossman
.067 - Maldonado
.094 - Benintendi
.111 - Fletcher
.167 - Lopez
.179 - Vaughn

One-third of your starting lineup hitting under .100. And the next three 'best' guys all hitting under .179.

So when do tryouts start for the White Sox? There are guys playing in parks on the South Side right now who can hit better than these guys.
