Getting real concerned about Goldy. We are into June and he is still taking strike after strike and then flailing away at bad pitches. Low 200's BA, OPS in the 600's, only sporadic power. Getting to the point where he needs to be in the 7 or 8 hole until he hits. And if he doesn't someone else needs to play and he needs to be benched. Which of course Marmol will never do.

The batting average and OPS numbers only look bad because of the slow start he had. If you look at his numbers since May 12, he's actually doing quite well.

Not good. The preseason predictions by many of enough improvement from last year to be a .500 ish team are so far proving correct. When they pitch they can't hit. When they hit they can't pitch. To challenge in the division they need another good starter, need one (both would be better) of Noot or Edman to get healthy and stay healthy, and Nado and Goldy start carrying more of the load.

agreed. I think another starter would help what is ailing this group. The batting will come and go. With the cold start, I'm thinking things at the plate will improve over the summer. But pitching - it just doesn't grow on trees, sadly. I don't think Mo will move on with this issue, though.

problem with our pitching need is that we truly need a # 2 guy. boy, if mikolas, lynn and gibson were 3,4,5
Contreras back, Herrera in the DH spot and Walker back hitting line drives and not listening to the hitting
"coach"/ front office we'd be cookin'..

If they cut down on the errors, that would make a difference too!

way to many errors to stay in contention...........jmho

The throw dropped by Gorman on the rundown was something you might see in Little League. These error cost the pitchers extra pitches. They also had a routine ground ball for a double play and it was booted. They ended up giving 5 outs for the inning.

We are missing 2-3 starters most of the season. Not thrilled with 29-32 but if you told me the following happened this early I would say being in contention at this point is off the table. Everyone except Rockies and Marlins are in Wild Card contention. Cardinals have too many guys on the roster due to necessity instead of strategy.

Edman hasn't played a game
Contreras injury
Walker slump and sent down
Nootbaar/Carlson either can't stay on field or be effective

Was out to dinner with aunt and uncle, get in car a promptly get to the bases clearing triple with the 4th scoring on an error. This defense is not good this past month.

THAT'S A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cardinals beat the Rockies 8-5 in a topsy turvy game........

Cardinals went up 4-0 . then the Rockies came back to tie it and then take a 5-4 lead..........

Donovan with the go ahead hit to make it 6-5 and then Carlson , with his best game in forever , drove in 2 more with a 2 run double.....Carlson got his first 3 RBI's for the season tonight and we need him to continue with his play tonight.....

Marmol made a brilliant decision to pinch run for Gorman with Siani , and get the go ahead run in.................

Helsley with a perfect 9th for his MLB leading 21st save..............

As Al H. just said , this was a team win..............................

Nice to get this win and to see DC contribute. I saw a stat that DC had 109 career rbi's with runners in scoring position(111 now), does anyone else think that seems high for him? I DC can put it all together.
