Where does J Richmond fall on that list, he has to be 1st or 2nd...
If Riley isn’t ranked as a ‘24 anywhere (is he?), not sure this statement holds true.
Jereme mos def liked to flame up regularly loltop of the flame out list

Expectations should be lower for a younger less experienced player. Not sure why it even matters. If Morez had reclassed and came here a year early, I'd still consider him a top 30 recruit even if technically his ranking might have changed by coming here a year early.
IU’s Assembly Hall saw some amazing buzzer beating shots that year — two alone in this game. This buzzer beater shot had to be one of the best if not the best in Illini basketball history on none other than Indiana's home court, 3/5/89, to win the game:
Or you could just be insanely stoked that we'd be getting a player ranked top 15 and stop looking for reasons to depress your own enthusiasm because being a fan should be fun instead of constantly trying to make sure you never get too excited in the name of "pragmatism."Expectations should be lower for a younger less experienced player.
Or, the same statement expressed another way, a player reclassifying up is slotted into a ranking containing better basketball players than the class they are reclassifying from. The seniors are better than the juniors, all else being equal.
We would not win one game against a competent D1 opponentI asked for it repeatedly last year, but this team may be set up for it even better. Run the Grinnell System!
5 on 5 off, jack up shots, 5 on 5 off, run and gun score a billion points.
Can you imagine the recruits that would want to play in that system! Sign me up, I'm in
For most of his Jr or Senior year he led the Nation in 3 pt percentage.I agree. The only difference is height & damonte got to a point when he would at least take & sometimes make a three pointer. Ty might not get there at this level, even though he would put a few up at Thornton. I hope that this offseason features Ty finishing around the rim & stretching out his range. I'm talking 1,500 jumpers a day.
Oh for more NIck Anderson-like players on future Illini teams.IU’s Assembly Hall saw some amazing buzzer beating shots that year — two alone in this game.
No doubt the shot was incredible. Legendary. But how about that pass? This buzzer beater shot had to be one of the best if not the best in Illini basketball history on none other than Indiana's home court, 3/5/89, to win the game:
Ultra elite, noice, wow...No doubt the shot was incredible. Legendary. But how about that pass?
I thought the same thing but Porter was built stronger and was more of an inside presence.Michael Porter Jr maybe

I'm just saying, if they re-rank Riley into the 2024 class, expect him to be lower, and don't look at that as some negative judgment on him as a player, that's just the inherent mechanics of how it works.Or you could just be insanely stoked that we'd be getting a player ranked top 15 and stop looking for reasons to depress your own enthusiasm because being a fan should be fun instead of constantly trying to make sure you never get too excited in the name of "pragmatism."
Also not all HS classes are created equal, in 2012 I would've most definitely taken a Junior Wiggins over a Senior Nerlens Noel out of HS. Same with taking a Junior Zion over any of the seniors in the graduating class.
You also know that Riley is older than a lot of the '24 class already right? He's not "younger, less experienced." The issue between Sr and Jr is a physical difference because one year means a lot at that age...the good news is that because of the Canadian school system, Riley is already older than most of the American Seniors (he's older than Cooper Flagg, Ace Bailey, Dylan Harper) we don't have to worry about him being physically mature enough.

Regardless, if we get Riley this is still the most incoming freshman talent we've had since the Dee/Deron class and perhaps longer than that.
And it's the most new talent brought into the program in a single offseason ever, bar none, such is the uniqueness of PortalWorld. I don't like having to get to know a whole new roster of players every year and I hope the sport trends away from that, but what an exciting and interesting new roster.
MPJ was also pretty athletic until his back issues started popping up.I thought the same thing but Porter was built stronger and was more of an inside presence.

Yup. I don't love having almost an entirely new squad, but at least Brad and the staff have made this about the most fascinating collection of guys we could have grabbed. I don't know if it will work, but I could not be more excited to find out. Riley is ranked as #15 composite for 2025. When he reclasses, he will be ranked in 2024 but if he goes to Illinois, his rating may dip (historically) /sIf Riley isn’t ranked as a ‘24 anywhere (is he?), not sure this statement holds true.
Joson Sanon went from 25 5 star to 24 22nd ranked, so maybe 20s?I'm just saying, if they re-rank Riley into the 2024 class, expect him to be lower, and don't look at that as some negative judgment on him as a player, that's just the inherent mechanics of how it works.

Other coaches can land groups of big name transfers, but Brad and staff excel at filling the roles that they want on their rosterYup. Gatorade POY. It was based on academics as well as basketball.I believe Nick Smith was the Florida Parade magazine player of the year...which may tell you all you need to know about Parade magazine.
