Matt things Indiana might have stole Big Noon which I wouldn’t mind.
I thought no one knows which network hasfirst pick in any week? CBS and not Fox may have first pick that week. But I am with the other poster. I’m hoping it is 2:30 and not 11

He doesn’t know it’s just guesses. Fox has most first picks by a lot tho so it’s the easy assumption.

FTR, after the October 12th games were announced, I am updating this tracker I did to try to guess the Michigan start time. Again, this is my guess at which network got the first pick for each week, with confirmed/reported picks in green. For reference, Week 7 is the upcoming weekend slate of games.

W1 - FOX (PSU at WVU), NBC (FRST at MICH), CBS (AKR at OSU)
W2 - FOX (TEX at MICH), NBC (CU at NEB), CBS (ISU at IOWA)
W3 - FOX (BAMA at WISC), CBS (ND at PUR), NBC (IND at UCLA)
W4 - CBS (USC at MICH), NBC (IOWA at MINN), FOX (MARSH at OSU)
W5 - NBC (ILL at PSU), CBS (WISC at USC), FOX (MINN at MICH) ... really not sure on #2 and #3 here
W6 - NBC (MICH at WASH), CBS (IOWA at OSU), FOX (UCLA at PSU)
W7 - NBC (OSU at ORE), CBS (PSU at USC), FOX (WASH at IOWA)
W8 - [Illini/Michigan week]
W9 - [Illini/Oregon week]
W10 - FOX (TBD)
W11 -
W12 -
W13 -
W14 - FOX (MICH at OSU)

I actually c hanged my guess for Week 6, in that I now speculate that NBC got the first pick with Michigan at Washington, and CBS got the second pick with Iowa at Ohio State. So that still leaves 5 weeks for FOX, 3 for NBC and just 1 for CBS, with of course many weeks being unknown. In light of that, I am actually now growing pretty confident that Michigan at Illinois will be the 2:30 pm CBS game.
Considering how the times were released Illinois penn state on NBC was almost certainly not first and was likely third.

I was at that game as well! What a day....I woke up to my cousins roommate (a Michigan grad going to law school at U of I) playing the Michigan fight song as loud as he could the morning of the game.
I remember the east balcony unfurling a banner that said M GO BLOW! As the unrolled it.to the M GO BL., the old.Michigan alums around us said hey, look! Then the OW came out and they got quiet.

Every overpass on I-74 from the Indiana state line to Champaign had banners taunting the Michigan fans. Again, exquisite!

Well, I can flex some insider status! I was out enjoying beers with my friend yesterday, and his fiance works for NBC. I had him text her, and she said NBC was going to do the Iowa/MSU game on the 19th ... so if that is true and nothing changes, we can cross off the prime time option! Sticking with my 2:30 pm CBS guess.

That.....doesn't sound like enjoyable TV entertainment.

Iowa MSU was on NBC’s preferred prime time list that came out so makes sense. Going to come down to who picks first between CBS and Fox and if they pick Nebraska-Indiana or our game.

There better signs about Conor Stallions and asterisks during the game.

I'm going to go ahead and reaffirm my guess that CBS gets first pick and announces Illini/Michigan this afternoon. Interestingly, every team in that equation besides us has a bye week. So assuming we can defeat Purdue this weekend (and move up to #21-22 or so), I'm guessing you have this game:

A. #22 Michigan (4-2) at #21 Illinois (5-1), with the whole Memorial Stadium dedication stuff

B. Nebraska (5-1) at #16 Indiana (6-0)

While a much tougher choice than one might have guessed a couple weeks ago, I still say CBS would pick our game. They're both exciting enough matchups, but I think we have the following (admittedly small) tiebreakers all working in our favor:

1. Our game is more likely to feature two ranked teams (i.e., Nebraska is less likely to graduate into the top 25 than Michigan is to fall out when neither play, IMO).
2. The Memorial Stadium rededication thing, the special uniforms and the relevant history of the Michigan rematch sells itself somewhat.
3. On average, Illinois draws significantly better than Indiana.
4. On average, while both are good, Michigan draws significantly better than Nebraska.

I think Nebraska @ Indiana gets the nod over us, whoever the first choice is. We all know that Indiana is inflated by a cupcake schedule. But they are going to going to be the shiny media darling until they start losing when they play a real opponent, which may be this game against Nebraska. They are going to hype up Indiana while they can, and Nebraska is a very solid tv draw that should be just as strong if not stronger than a sinking Michigan team.

Now, I hope this all means that Indiana is on Big Noon on Fox while we get CBS, although the viewing experience won't matter much in the moment as I will be there live... But yeah, my expectations is that we are the second choice game that week. Now should we be? You all know the answer to that question...

Selfishly, I want the CBS slot. 2:30 pm games just allow more time for hype. However, I will not be upset whatsoever if we get Big Noon Kickoff ... having those guys onsite with the Memorial Stadium columns in the background is still some incredibly great exposure for the program.
