Maybe there is a Mizzou connection to this deal, but that's not indicated anywhere in the article you posted.how does mizzou get a top 10 qb from pennsylvania? family connection?

One of Bret's goals is to have as many enroll early as possible ... Some it's just wanting to stay in HS for spring sports ...

Yes, as it should be - you need to take a QB every year knowing that 50% or more are going to transfer. QBs might be the position that has benefited the most from the transfer portal. Only one starter - 95% of all freshman redshirt to learn offense / bulk up to take hits. Under the old system it meant transferring was a sit-out year, giving you one offseason to compete for a starting job before the staff is likely looking for a younger starter.

I'd like to see the true measurables on Boyd. His height is concerning, and likely why some better programs shied away. That said, he's the exact type of QB that Illinois is smartly betting on - taking on a higher ceiling guy knowing that current QB room is healthy and Clayton is behind him. My guess is we'll know early if he has star potential.
I know it's the exception to the rule, but Drew Brees over at PU was small and passed over by other schools because of his height and ended up doing ok.
I hope we get him, but if we don't, please don't go to Iowa! Anywhere but Iowa.

Agreed, and this is where you are intentionally hunting for an exception - his talents are undeniable, just have to take a leap that his physical attributes will not be a limitation but an opportunity to get him. I'm a firm believer that Boyd would be a top-7 prep QB if he was 6'3.
