I hoped for a blowout yesterday so he'd get fired. It was a heart breaker instead, but at least he did get fired.

Mistake. He should be totally concentrating on getting Caleb better. Wins and losses for the rest of the year are meaningless.

Just an enormous relief for Matts across the Midwest that we’ve stopped the bleeding on the brand damage Nagy and Eberflus were inflicting on us.

because just 4 weeks ago , he would have NEVER in a hundred years entered the conversation of becoming the next head coach if Eberflus had been hit by a bus
they cant take any chances. They need to hire a proven commodity . Give me Belichek or Pete Carroll. No flavor of the day oc's or dc's

Well that's where the hard-headedness comes in.
A dead cat bounce of better vibes is all Antonio Pierce did, and what Thomas Brown will surely do.
But are the foundations of sustainable success being laid? That needs to be a high, high bar, one I very strongly doubt Brown will meet. I bet I will be among the biggest opponents of making Brown permanent in a month. (There will be advocates. People always love interim coaches for reasons which elude me)
It's still worth exploring, and just watching someone audition for the role gives you a framework for the search.
Which is why it's not just a question of punishing Eberflus and playing PR with your fans and the Chicago media. That's all firing the coach is midseason means normally. I generally support the notion that it's just fake media management to do so. I think this was an exception and so I'm glad it happened.
The only other option that would have been under even moderate consideration would have been Richard Hightower and with how the special teams have looked the last few weeks, it should be plain to see why that would have been a mistake.
Carroll or bellichek? Really? It’s 2025 season not 1995. Once again give a check to Ben Johnson. Say hire your gm. Teach Caleb. Let’s go

I cannot believe the Bears allowed him to give a Friday press conference, THEN fired him. That is another telltale sign of how mismanaged the franchise is.
I'm trying to think of any reason you'd let a head coach give a morning press conference, then have to announce later that you fired him. If Kevin Warren and Ryan Poles didn't think Eberflus should be fired yesterday, then what changed between yesterday and today to make that decision while still allowing Eberflus to hold his press conference?
I'll always believe that Eberflus' post-game press conference where he 1) couldn't explain his reasoning around the final 35 seconds and 2) basically threw Caleb Williams under the bus to save his own skin was the last straw. It certainly would have been for me, and I probably would have fired him last night after returning to Halas Hall (I would not have pulled a Pat Haden and fired Kiffin on the tarmac at LAX like what happened at USC).
I know the fan chatter will likely focus on Ben Johnson. I don't know if he'll want the job. It sure seemed like he turned Washington down last year despite a new ownership group and the ability to hand-pick nearly any QB he wanted. If he's being as picky as it seems, I don't really see that the Bears' situation is one that would convince him to make the move to a head coach role.

What the last 24 hours have been for Bear fans and the Chicago NFL franchise is the hand of God reaching down and arranging bizarre events that were necessary to get a failed Coach off the Bear sidelines and allow those who remain to make some kind of sense out of the rest of this disappointing season.
It’s clear that Bears Management did NOT intend to make this move right now. But due to a massive failure seen by all on National television and the increasing anger of Bears fans... their hand was forced.
The End-of-Game meltdown. Was it the Coach’s fault? Was it the QB?
No, it was the Hand of the Almighty reaching down and creating a situation which forced a sputtering franchise to do something it could not avoid doing for one second longer.
Bears fans should not be mad at the game meltdown. Bears fans should be thankful and rejoice that it happened.
Who should be the next Bears Coach? Ask Caleb and do whatever he says. He’s the franchise right now and for as long as her wears the Bears colors.
And who was the big winner now after the game? That would be -- Bears fans.

Raiders are gonna Raider, just like Bears are gonna Bear.
To be fair, he was hired on like a Monday and McKaskey gave him 3 names to choose from. Met with all 3 and I think Flus was hired by like Thursday.
Hard to believe that didn’t work out.
