I'm just glad they didn't tie or break our 9 OT record! Miami should still be in, but you know the higher ups want another SEC team in it instead.
when we set the 9ot record , weren’t we doing every ot period after the first the same way ? ball on the 25 ? when did the rules change so at some ot point it’s just a 2pt try ?

Billy Napier with the correct response to his team planting a flag.

I hope many coaches have a preemptive talk with their teams about character this week. Planting a flag is the polar opposite of a congratulatory handshake for a game well played. It’s a sign of very poor character and a complete lack of sportsmanship, like giving the defeated team the finger.

That said, it was really classless for Indiana's Coach to run up the score like he did.
Penn State got the same criticism. Here's was Franklin's response.

"My jobs is to put threes and fours in the game, but when the threes and fours get to go in the game, they get to play football," Franklin said via Happy Valley Insider, referring to Penn State's reserves. "Those guys deserve to play football.

"... On top of that, there's also a change in college football. We are trying to play as long as we can, make the Playoff and be seeded as high as possible. Scoring as many points and a point differential matters. All of that matters. And if you don't get that, it's really not my problem."

I have to agree. If you can't handle a beatdown, don't play sports.

I actually agree with Franklin. The backups shouldn’t just go in and run up the gut three plays and punt.

But running fake punts and trick plays up 40 like Cignetti did is bush league.

I actually liked the cignetti move to prove the point. If you aren’t a top brand, you don’t get the benefit of the doubt (we’d be in this scenario too). Therefore, he had to “pass the eye test” which is a moving target based on who you are. Put a longhorns helmet on that team and they’re 3-4 spots higher.

I will blame it on lack of leadership from the coaching staff.

Why would any offensive football player want to go to Iowa? They won this weekend against Nebraska on a last second field goal 13-10, but had 5 first downs the entire game, 164 total yards and 20 minutes of possession vs 40 for Nebraska.

I hope Brett is using this to recruit against them. We may not be a juggernaut on offense but we score at least in the 30's almost every game...
My brother, an Iowa grad, hates their coaching staff and the boring way they play. Personally, I happen to like the number of games they win each year, but...5 first downs? And they're 8-4 vs our 9-3...

We only had 14 first downs Saturday... because we kept taking it to the house!! And...poor Nebraska...snakebit!

Iowa State with the first 10-win season in the program's history. They've been playing college football in Ames since 1892.
I lived in Ames, IA briefly in the late 70s or early 80’s (don’t remember exactly as I have tried to erase those memories). Nebraska was good, the Osborne years. So, the Sunday after ISU played Neb. the Des Moines Register’s front page, main headline was that ISU only lost to Nebraska by 14 points or something like that. Evidently, it was a moral victory since they weren’t beaten by 30 or 40 as they usually were, and one that needed to be front page news. I just laughed.

It's hard to explain how weird these people are if you've never met any.

It's like if you crossed a European soccer fanbase who hates their rival based on religious schisms from the 11th century with the PTA club for Moms at the richest elementary school in the US.

You’re on the right track. In Texas, football is religion. Let me correct that... football is MORE IMPORTANT than religion.

And so... the various College fan bases are like religious cults (most feverishly Texas-Austin and A&M). And like all religious cults... they hate all the other religious cults with giddy zeal.

In Texas there are only two conditions in Life: Playing or watching football... and waiting around for the NEXT game.

Hey, Everyone needs a reason for living!

Arizona State has clinched their spot in the Big XII Championship Game. The other spot will come down to the result of the Houston/BYU game that is currently going on. If BYU wins, then the Sun Devils will face Iowa State. If BYU loses, then it will be Arizona State vs. Colorado.

Not long ago... the Big 12 was on its death bed and their prospects did not look good. But they did a fine job of adding new and interesting programs to the Conference and now are an entertaining group to watch. While also preserving some good rivalries.

And I can say the same for the Pac 12. While not having some of the glamour names they once did... they have added some interesting football programs and also can be fun to watch.
