Ironic how the 12-team playoff system begins in a year when there is a team that is #1 all by its lonesome.

Are you serious? Going to be a beat down as this will be their I told you so game.

And spare me the sit out argument, we have them too and the Bama second string is still an imposing group.
Not necessarily. In 2008, Utah beat a 12-1 Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, whose only loss that season was in their conference championship game to #1 Florida. Teams may feel jilted or disappointed, but the bowl game is in a month. By then, sometimes teams are just looking to the offseason especially with so many opt outs now

I never said I think either team should sit out. Was just raising the question of whether Bama will be petty enough to do that.

Indiana vs Notre Damn. I like that match up. Battle for the state bragging rights.

Some how, Oregon has the hardest path lol. 😂
Ohio State, by far, has the hardest path. They have Tennessee, then Oregon back to back and if seeding holds true, Texas right after that.

That loss to Michigan was absolutely devastating because it cost them the bye. Oregon has one less game to deal with and an additional week of rest.

Well, we can't forget that we wet the bed versus Minnesota, at home. We also got absolutely boat raced at Oregon. Losing to them is one thing. The method in which we lost is a whole different story. So, while we can say that we played a tougher schedule, that doesn't hold a lot of water when you take into account that Oregon could have put up 70 points. Up 38-3 at halftime.....they completely called off the dogs

Totally disagree. Bama doesn’t want to play anywhere. They will sit their entire team not just a few. So smart by citrus to nail this one. People forget how good South Carolina is

That’s exactly why I wanted to play Bama. With multiple players opting out and them not even wanting to be there, it would be a prime opportunity to get a win over them (which would be huge for our perception as a program).

Sure I don’t disagree but am thrilled we have a huge program to play in the best bowl after the CFP. Though I think bama ole miss and South Carolina are all about same level. I think I saw McMurphy post line for bama would have been around 13 and South Carolina around 8-9. I’m a little worried regardless it could be 21+ blow out ha

Agree with this. Their noses are completely out of joint and a game versus us is beneath them(in their minds). Now, they might have declined in hopes of finding a game against a bigger name because there is 0% chance that the Citrus Bowl wouldn't have bent over backwards to have them. They are the top ranked team to not make the playoffs and their jerseys bring ratings.

Is this official yet? Very strange to see a higher ranked SEC team selected over, though South Carolina likely has more motivation than Bama at this point.

Can't think this would have been the choice of Citrus Bowl committee. If so, it is a stupid choice.

Playing South Carolina is lame. I wanted Bama or Ole Miss. This feels like another Miss State bowl

More motivation and just a 2 point loss to bama. Also people forget they are on a 6 game win streak arguably one of the hottest teams out there.

I’m guessing citrus chose South Carolina. Bama doesn’t even want to be anywhere anyway. Hilarious
Guessing Bama said no. They are the grand prize for any bowl committee. They brings ratings. Bama versus us would have brought double the ratings(if not more) than us versus SC.

They'll find a game versus a bigger name that, like them, didn't have a great year.
