I think South Carolina is better than Miss St from a couple years ago. This will be a tough game regardless of who plays for either side
I think they are way better than Miss. St. was, and we're worse (love our team, but let's be realistic).

The fun part is, though, that I don't care! Win or lose this is freaking awesome! I am just amazed at how much of Bielema's vision has already come to fruition regarding this program. I hope the team gains a lot from this regardless of outcome. Come back better next year and aim for the playoff!

I think is mostly on our offensive line. We need to be able to run the ball effectively. Luke will be Luke and our defense will make some big plays but we have to open some holes.

I assume we’re the home team as Iowa wore white jerseys last year. I’m hoping for our traditional O/B/O look and the Block I.

It's so weird seeing people type "Lets go Cocks". That's something you'd expect on a completely different site

I'm an avid fan of both teams. Knew this day would come one day, lol. It's funny to see the cultures of the two fan bases finally clash directly.

On the surface, I'd be lying if I said that I saw the Illini being up to the challenge here, but it might depend on opt-outs to a certain degree. Also, the Gamecocks' OC recently accepted the head coaching job at App State, so that could make things interesting.

Interesting feeling to know that I'll be pleased and disappointed, regardless of the game's outcome, but I think a victory might mean a bit more to the Illini, so I'm hoping they come out strong and show me something I haven't seen out of them yet.

I-L-L!

Fun fact: I watched "Not another Teen Movie" in the movie theater the same year we played LSU in the Sugar Bowl. I watched the first half of the game at home, as I was a high school Senior at the time. My girlfriend wanted to see the movie so I agreed, especially since we were getting blown out in the first half and I was tired of yelling at my TV. Unfortunately, I missed an incredible second half of the football game. Since then, I make it a point never to leave a game early, regardless of the score, because the comebacks can be so exciting.

What about the Rose Bowl in 07? Did you watch that game? If so...could you do us a favor and not watch this one? 😜

Fun fact- Illinois Football is 0-6 all time vs the SEC

at Florida 1967 L 0-14
Mississippi St 1980 L 12-28
Alabama 1982 L 15-21 (Liberty Bowl)
Florida 1988 L 10-14 (All-American Bowl)
LSU 2001 L 34-47 (2002 Sugar Bowl)
Mississippi St 2022 L 10-19 (ReliaQuest Bowl)
Maybe a more devastating fact is that Illinois has only ever played SEC teams 6 times.

We aren't worth bothering with most years.

One of my good friends went to South Carolina. This is going to be a fun couple weeks of nerdy-style trash talk.

You know the move. Release the Cocks you’ve been holding on to and accept the Illini as your one and only true rooting interest.

Right there with you! Such a strange feeling, but can't wait for this game.

:ROFLMAO:

The Illini were my first sports love. I was born with Orange and Blue in my veins. Nothing will ever truly come before the Beloved.

Having South Carolina as my side piece has been relatively safe and without conflict, until now!

People talk a lot about opt outs but for players who can't do that, this game could be huge for their NIL negotiations. If Luke puts up a big game, for example, then it would surely boost his NIL....either coming from us (hopefully) or another team.
