Great flick. If it had to be one movie, at least it was one that was worth it. Best cinematic representation of a high school football coach imo. Imagine if he coached the illini o or d lines.Fun fact: I watched "Not another Teen Movie" in the movie theater the same year we played LSU in the Sugar Bowl. I watched the first half of the game at home, as I was a high school Senior at the time. My girlfriend wanted to see the movie so I agreed, especially since we were getting blown out in the first half and I was tired of yelling at my TV. Unfortunately, I missed an incredible second half of the football game. Since then, I make it a point never to leave a game early, regardless of the score, because the comebacks can be so exciting.

I was at that LSU fiasco too. That LSU crowd was loud and obnoxious. If I heard “Tiger bait” one more time I would have lost itLoudest basketball game I've ever attended - Arizona vs. Illinois @Rosemont
Loudest football game I've ever attended - Illinois vs. LSU in Sugar Bowl (and it wasn't the IL fans).
No other bball or fball game come close to noise level to either of the above.
That team and this team now are two very different things..hottest team in the country. I don't think there were many people hoping to see them in the playoffs. Not the most talented, but the hottest team and firing on all cylinders.Yes they had some good wins (Texas A&M) but this team also only beat Old Dominion by 4. At home.
South Carolina lost at Alabama - 25-27. There's not much difference when both teams are full strength. While SEC is formidable we are talking about South Carolina not Alabama.
Agree. Attended both, and in my opinion, you are correct.Loudest basketball game I've ever attended - Arizona vs. Illinois @Rosemont

My husband almost did lose it on Bourbon Street when a drunk LSU fan (is that redundant?) got in his face and pointed a finger at his chest yelling, “Tiger bait.” I had to hold him back. I could just see him be the one to get arrested and us missing the game.I was at that LSU fiasco too. That LSU crowd was loud and obnoxious. Maybe they’ll cool down in the next 3.5 weeks? That team and this team now are two very different things..hottest team in the country. I don't think there were many people hoping to see them in the playoffs. Not the most talented, but the hottest team and firing on all cylinders.
In 1984 10-1 Illinois rolled into Pasadena and got stomped by 6-4-1 UCLA. You never know.

That’s the legend.Too much partying at the Playboy Mansion.
Let me echo your comments, for a college football game at least. LSU is the common denominator. For me it was Clemson vs LSU in the January 2020 Natty --- at the New Orleans Super Dome. And it was indeed the LSU fan base generating 95% of the noise.Loudest basketball game I've ever attended - Arizona vs. Illinois @Rosemont

Loren Tate recently addressed this debacle. He said there were rumors floating around the team hotel the day before the game that we were going on probation after the game (including a bowl ban). Tate opined that the rumors were the cause of the teams' horrific performance the next day. That’s the legend.
We too were in attendance at the 2002 Sugar Bowl. And yes, the noise level of the respective contingent's was quite different. But, I will say this, in spite of being outnumbered 3-1 I was proud of the noise we made in spite of the numbers difference! They knew we were there, that's for sure.Loudest basketball game I've ever attended - Arizona vs. Illinois @Rosemont

We were at that game. Beautiful day, one of the most embarrassing losses I ever witnessed in person. The way it turned out had Illinois been able to beat UCLA convincingly they might have ended up #3 behind Miami & Nebraska. They had an outside chance of leapfrogging Nebraska, as well, but that would have been a long shot. They entered the Rose Bowl ranked #4. And as it was they ended up dropping to #10 in the final poll.In 1984 10-1 Illinois rolled into Pasadena and got stomped by 6-4-1 UCLA. You never know.
We were at that one as well. That’s why we’re not going to the Citrus Bowl: every bowl game we’ve gone to (five!), Illinois has lost. Our Illini friends have banned us from ever going to another. We were at that game. Beautiful day, one of the most embarrassing losses I ever witnessed in person. Entirely possible.. lol. I am just glad to be having this conversation.. so glad to be in a relevant bowl playing an SEC team.Maybe they’ll cool down in the next 3.5 weeks?![]()
LSU fans are some of the worst. They deserve all of the mediocre football BK has through there so far.We too were in attendance at the 2002 Sugar Bowl. We too were sick of having "tiger bait" screamed at us, sometimes from a 1/2 block away. That got seriously old by game time!
Anyone who attended this game knows it was about 35 degrees and raining on New Year's Day. We were walking past the motor home lot near the Super Dome and we were toting our Illini umbrella as it was raining hard and steady. As we walked past a group of the LSU people standing next to a motor home on our way to the Quarter one in the group yelled THANKS FOR BRINGING THE !!!!!! WEATHER DOWN HERE WITH YOU!! This was before the game but I'd had enough by that time so we stopped and I turned towards them and said something to the effect IF THE BIG 10, IN THEIR INFINITE WISDOM, HADN'T GIVEN AWAY THE ROSE BOWL WE'D BE IN PASADENA WHERE IT'S 80 DEGREES INSTEAD OF THIS !!!! HOLE!! Surprising enough they didn't have much of a retort and I felt a bit vindicated after being screamed at for 2 days!!
