Don't love the color scheme, but the design is cool.
This one is my favorite. Most of them are just not good. Really makes me wish I submitted my flag idea, based on the weak ones that were made finalists.
Yeah the color I go back and forth on. Would love to see someone mess with the colors to see if there's a better combo out there for this design.Don't love the color scheme, but the design is cool.
Some of them have far too much of an Indiana vibe. Also, a butterfly? Really?
You thought we left state flags behind in the old uniform thread? You thought wrong, hoss. See the 10 finalists for the state flag redesign, many of which are truly horrific.
In a vacuum, the Abe-Illinois one is also my favorite. It at least has a clear identity related to the state. But Abe wouldn't be very visible on a flagpole when the wind isn't blowing very strong.I like the creativity of the Abe silhouette/state outline one.
But on a flag it’d be too hard to discern exactly what you’re looking at…especially while it’s flapping in the wind.
I thought this too. Cool idea, bad flag.I like the creativity of the Abe silhouette/state outline one.

I don't love the Butterfly, but I wouldn't mind if the state colors became orange and blue . . .Could be worse it could be the flag of a dystopia of the Illini My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fan club

You think that because it is.I was REALLY hoping we would bust out the arched Illini helmet again after the CMU game, but alas, twas not to be. I honestly think it's our best helmet design.
Avatar checks out.You think that because it is.![]()
Yeah, conceptually it’s decent. The colors are all like two shades too light, I think.Yeah it is for me to.
It has a certain visual harmony with the Chicago flag with the six pointed stars and horizontal lines and simplicity, while being totally thematically pointed toward the rest of the state. That's a neat trick. And no Illinoisan is so city-bound that the "driving through the cornfields" feeling the flag delivers doesn't resonate.
As a former Southern Illinoisian, it feels accurate. Seems like it should have something representing Chicago though. Illinois has a uniqueness in that it has this contrast of mostly rural/small town areas, but with an iconic city and lake anchoring it to the north. Maybe a skyline off in the distance, behind the rolling fields, under the sky. Just spitballin'.Yeah it is for me to.

While not as explicit or easy to see, our own certainly tries the same theme:Not a flag, but the bottom of these New York license plates aimed for a similar rural/urban juxtaposition with Niagara Falls/ the Adirondacks on one side and the Statue of Liberty/NYC Skyline on the other, then out to the lighthouse at Montauk Point.
