Bret played within the rules and utilized the defensive subsitution to his liking and Beamer cried like a baby throughout the game and it boiled over with Bret's gesture. I have never seen a coach react like that in regards to something that is legally allowed in the game. Beamer could have done the same thing to try to play to his advantage but instead he cried to the refs about it.

OH!!! And no one has mentioned that when Clarke was injured and taking a knee, before the Illini trainers (and Bret) got out there, Beamer went over and smacked Clarke on the butt. Looked like he was trying to get him to get up or something. Anyone else notice that??!
Meh- kinda looked to me like he was just checking on him
Who was the frickin' idiot with the beard and shades pumping his fists like a roided up lunatic on the S. Carolina sideline?
S&C Coach, Luke Day- dude is a loose cannon. Rumor is he has run off a lot of talent over the years.

A football coach we wanted to keep has left once in the history of the program when Mack went to one of the bluest of blue blood programs. That is hardly “past sins”.

And there is no way Whitman is letting him leave for freaking Iowa.
Didn't White leave to Coach the Raiders?

Here is my deep and meticulous analysis of today’s 2024 Citrus Bowl:

THAT WAS ONE FUN FOOTBALL GAME!

Spirited... Back-and-forth... Heated at times. Well-matched teams playing with passion.

And like ‘Citrus’-things themselves... a little sweet and a little sour, with great and colorful appeal. The Citrus Bowl loaded and juiced with Illini Orange.

This has been an exciting season for the Illini Footballers. A solid, foundational-type season upon which to build for the future.

And it’s always extra sweet to beat an SEC Team – in the heart of SEC Country.

U of I is not just a roundball school any more. Welcome to the Illini ‘Road to ELITE’ in more ways than one.
I thought I read that it was our first ever defeat of an SEC team... I guess they mean in a bowl game?

I didn’t have to think hard to determine the last time I was so invested in an Illini football game.

It was when Juice convinced Zook to go for it on 4th and inches in Columbus in 2007.

It felt REALLY good to be that emotionally invested in Illinois football again. It’s been a long 17 years.

Speaking of discipline, I must give the kickoff team a pat on the back. That hokey fake T-bar in the end zone and throwback across the field could have been a back breaker. But guys stayed alert. One of them almost tackled the second guy but got blocked in the back (no flag of course).
Yep, we almost got a safety on that play and they just ended up in the same place they would have if they hadn't tried to run it out. Then got hit with a 5 yd penalty LOL
