Like finding out the new AD wants to fire you even after you start 6-0?
Always respect your insider knowledge, but I still believe there is absolutely NO way he would have gotten fired if they went, for instance, 10-2. No admin would support the AD doing that, especially in a program like Illinois football.

I'm calling it now..........We're beating OSU.
I believe Bret has taken down the Buckeyes once in his career and they were #1. I'm rooting for those A-Holes to win it all and run the table all the way to C-U and Bret can beat those bitches again.
Probably a game I should take my Godson to next year. He is a a young a-hole who likes shiny things, but a recent follow of the beloved on IG recently. I love my boy and in @pruman91 words " I really do"

11-1 …

Gameday makes an appearance in Champaign for the Ohio State and it’s a good fight but a loss …

This team will be CFB Playoff bound …

Breaking Bad Train GIF
This is what my BOLD self also wants to predict for the regular season.

We'd then follow it up with a Big 10 Championship bout with Ohio State in a revenge game. I'll assume a loss in that game and a #6 seed in the CFP.

I then predict a round 1 victory in the snow vs #11 Ole Miss in Champaign, followed by a loss to #3 Alabama in the quarterfinals in the Sugar Bowl.

Overall record = 12-3, thus smashing the all-time ILLINI single season win total (previously 10)

(NOTE 1: Another ILLINI record is broken when luxury box tickets go for $8500 each on Stub Hub for the home playoff game in December).
(NOTE 2
: Whitman is asked to become Commissioner of the new and revamped NCAA. He turns it down.)
(NOTE 3: Bielema's contract is renegotiated and he becomes the 3rd highest paid coach in the country.)

He did, at Wisconsin. I did a double dip that day. MSU at Illinois - an L. Then grabbed a large Monicals pepperoni pizza for the drive to catch the final 3 quarters of OSU at Wisconsin. I guess I only remember because I've never been to two college football games in day other than that day.

I know a lot of people like him and nobody can question his commitment to the Illini (especially on a "years served" basis, lol), but it has always irked me that Loren Tate's writing style itself seems to lend itself to less-than-optimism. Even when writing about something good, every fiber of his being as a journalist is dying to throw in a "But, will it last?" or something like that. While having no ill will toward the guy himself, it has always led me to kind of hate his material.

Talk about two sellouts at Memorial Stadium? Tate will spend three paragraphs talking about how bad it used to be and one sentence seeming anywhere near excited, lol. JMO, of course...

As Mackovic said, Loren Tate “clearly [is] not a homer.”

Can you blame him? He's lived through a lot of very down years.

Yes, I can! Haha. He's made the fact he lived through down years part of his literal personality to the point that he can't enjoy some of our best years. When being a "realist" leads to one adopting that persona as part of his constant demeanor, it drives me nuts.

My man is 93 and he's seen a lot, going back to the 1940's. He's right that with few exceptions a really good year has been followed by a really disappointing year. I do think BB is the guy to break that however
