Where are we on Constanza and the tall frenchman?
It really is a shame that there was important pressing recruiting news that did not get posted because people spent a few posts reminiscing about their college days (on a forum for a college sports team). I guess we will never know what happened with the recruitments of Constanza (nailed the spelling!) and "the fall frenchman"...

P.S. - how'd you get Constanza right and not even look up the guy's name or capitalize Frenchman? It's Jonas Boulefaa btw.

This is funny to me because I prefer cans, not sure why. It tastes more 'crisp' to me, but could be my imagination.
Beer is better in cans. Zero exposure to light is a really big thing. While there are plenty of exceptions, the vast bulk of serious craft beers in this country are sold only in cans.
Cans were awful back in the day - before the introduction of plastic liners.

This was my go-to option for beer pong and flip cup, but if I'm just choosing a beverage for myself I preferred higher alcohol/volume.
Keystone Light was my staple in college. On occasion, I’d feel like a big shot and order Dos Equis at the bar (while all the other big shots were ordering Heineken).

Today, my beers of choice are Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA and Dragon’s Milk (bourbon barrel stout). I will mix it up with a variety of craft beers as needed.

I don’t know if anyone here listens to the podcast “Stuff You Should Know,” but one of the delightful things about that podcast is when the hosts (Josh and Chuck) get sidetracked from the topic and go on a brief tangent about something else before realizing what they’ve done and get back on track. I also find that same aspect of this board equally delightful, be it beer talk, cottage cheese, french fries or whatever. That’s part of what makes this board worth visiting during the periods where there’s never any “necessary” reason to do so.

Funny side note (since that’s what makes this board great)… at first, I read your last line as “beer talk vs grasshoppers.” 😂

So… who wants to talk about grasshoppers? Your choice: insect, cocktail or Kung Fu references.

Beer is better in cans. Zero exposure to light is a really big thing. While there are plenty of exceptions, the vast bulk of serious craft beers in this country are sold only in cans.
Cans were awful back in the day - before the introduction of plastic liners.
Brown bottles are fine, the light really only impacts the clear and green bottles. And once they're in the garage fridge it's totally dark anyway.

Cans are a distant third to me after draft and bottle. Might be memories of the pre-plastic lining days, though I don't care much for drinking from plastic either. Glass all the way.

I am a major craft beer afficionado as well as a minor homebrewer. I confess that my original reaction when craft-brewers began the transition to cans was as negative then as yours in now. But cans are just plain better than bottles. You cannot taste the can lining, whether is old-school 'lacquer' or the more politically correct BPANI lining. It also seems to be a lot easier, technically, to put a "brewed-on" date on a can than on a bottle, though it may be that bottlers just don't try.

Draft is better still, but we should probably save beer-line maintenance issues for some later thread. There are a huge number of things that can go wrong with kegs and even more with firkins.

But you don't really wanna age beer for very long in a can. Bottles are still better for cellaring beer. (This comes straight from our local breweries' head brewer/owner.)

You are absolutely right. A barrel aged imperial stout belongs in a bottle, not a can.

But with the exception of something like a barrel aged stout, there are precious few beers that improve with age. By contrast, more than one brewer has told me that their NEIPAs (aka 'hazy' IPAs) should be drunk within a month of their canning dates. Rust never sleeps, but oxidation really affects hazy, heavily hopped brews.

I was more of a Natural Light guy. or if I really was treating myself I would go with Busch Light.

Draft is only at trusted (cleanliness) venues. Seen far too many Bar Rescues to do otherwise.

My main takeaway here is that I no longer think of your handle as relating to motor oil, but rather a nice quantity of lager or ale.

I love it!
I've always felt that Two Quarts Low was a perfect name for a country rock band but it is clear to me now that it is an even nicer quantity of lager or ale!
