I think the Kentucky search demonstrates, or at least indicates, that the allure of blue bloods is diminished in the portal/NIL era. I think coaches like Oats and BU, who want a championship, can see themselves getting it at their current stop as much as at one of the 6 or 7 blue blood destination, and with far less idiocy about expectations. When we lost Self, there's no way he saw his chances at Illinois anywhere close to what they were at Kansas. I don't think that holds true anymore.

I'm sure ADs are looking at the UK search as they think about when to pull the plug on a guy like Davis.

I’d argue he has zero reason to leave for a Blue Blood besides history that was accomplished at those places long before he would take the HC spot. Our NIL, fan support and facilities will stack up with almost anyone, and he’s spent years building this well-oiled machine up. He has a legacy now.
