Rando thoughts after watching games this past weekend thru tonight:
* Pope honeymoon period officially over.
* Mentioned already, like him or hate him, Pitino can coach. He's bringing a Carnesecca vibe back to SJU. That game reminded me of the old Big East clashes with Lou C, Thompson, Boeheim, Rollie, Calhoun, etc.
* Randy Bennett is so underrated and does not get enough cred. That dude is gonna make Mark Few retire. His teams are smart, fundamentally sound, and tough year in and year out at such a small school that's under Gonzaga's shadow. I know he's a west coast guy, but being a St Louisan, I thought he should have at least been considered for SLU when Romar left (assistant with Lorenzo since Pepperdine).
* As for SLU, Schertz is a good one. Like to see where SLU will be in a few years in a underwhelming conference.
* Love to see Drake make some noise, and not the Kendrick Lamar rivalry. Ben McCollum is a heck of a coach and paid his dues. He will be on Iowa's (and additional larger Midwest school's) radar sooner than later.
* I wish I can be an employee with crappy results and still keep a job like Woodson.
