For those of you from Indianapolis, man the Indy Star never pulls punches when it comes to eviscerating IU and Purdue coaches and players when appropriate … especially coaches. Woodson was IU’s basketball coach, “in name if not deed, bringing to Bloomington … a minimum of recruiting, and all the golf he could play.”

Indy, much much appreciation for all the nuggets you drop across all the different forums!

With regard your comments around our lack of bench coaching does Boynton have X & O chops?

Likely more familiar than most with Will Wade from his time at VCU. Really wasn't too impressed with his coaching or game management

Loyalty: Brad’s an average recruiter
Also Loyalty: Brad only wins because he consistently recruits All Americans
I don't think I've seen anyone say Underwood is a bad recruiter. That's provably false.

Also, I don't know why people do this. There are hundreds of posters on here. Not everyone has the same thought. So you can find an individual or even a small group that hold all sorts of opinions. In fact, you will find the full spectrum of opinions. That doesn't mean that is the majority opinion. The majority opinion is pretty obviously that Underwood can recruit. There's much more debate about his ability to coach as in Xs and Os and in game adjustments.

I guess things have changed since I was coming up in the organization. /s
I don’t know how you make your bones on a message board; but if you had anything to do with getting Bruce fired…good on you!

Will can coach … I don’t think he’s lost a game in conference since taking over at Mcneese … May be wrong but he ain’t lost many if he has …

He’s a former HC … He’s a better X&O coach than Tyler or Hamer or Kwa …

Orlando … Mike … And Geoff can handle the recruiting and limited X&O …

Those other 2 assistant spots … Those are your X&O assistants …

See Chris Beard staff at Ole Miss … McCasland at Texas Tech …

They’ve figured out how to utilize the 5 man staff …

When the ruling came down I said this is the time to capitalize and hire someone with elite connections recruiting wise or elite X&O skills … And we promoted Tyler and Hamer … Unacceptable …

If they didn't have the money for Chester and OA.

Will they have the money to two proven assistants as an offensive and defensive coordinator(like Yaklich and an OC) and keep OA?

I know Tim was making very good money so I'd imagine they at least have the money for 1 more legitimate coach.

We didn’t have the money to pay Orlando, TA, Chester, and Geoff …

TA wanted a raise … A $350,000 raise … We don’t have the staff pool for 2 assistants to make $900,000 … And then have 2 more make $500,000+ … And another make $350,000 … Plus what we pay Brad … No MBB program is paying their staff that much …

Depending on who we want and if we can get them and it comes down to a little bit of $$$ (not 350k) … Whitman will make a call …

In fairness to the current staff, we did have a top rated offense last year. And we recruited a slew of 35%+ shooters and the offense does seem to be generating plenty of open looks. They just are not going in at an almost historic pace.

I actually think we could withstand the injuries/illnesses OR the massive shooting slump, but hard to win conference games in the midst of both.

biggest thing I would say to the staff is we seem to be getting good looks from 2 as well when we go that route. I would start there, try and get some easy buckets and get to the FT line and have our guys see the ball go through the net and get some confidence. Hopefully they’ve learned from the last 3 first halves.

In your opinion (or knowledge of the situation), what led to the promotion of Tyler and Hamer, since your other post seemed to indicate some additional funding could have been possible?

Brad not wanting to fight a more experienced assistant with potentially a different philosophy?

Hubris/overconfidence in the recruiting/X&O capabilities of Tyler and Hamer?

Just straight nepotism (wanting to give your son and his friend big-boy jobs)?

Arkansas is, at least, right?

Coleman getting $700K is obscene. Has his recruiting picked up? Chuck Martin has a reputation as an excellent recruiter, and I would think that he would be willing to move for more money. Knowing that Coleman is making twice as much as he must make him a little peeved. Payne was known as a top recruiter, so his salary makes more sense.

Shaka won’t ever leave Marquette …

Bennett is a west coast guy and he likes where he’s at …

McCasland is on the fast track to coaching anywhere he wants … He’s on Carolina’s short list … There’s talk Texas would fire Terry if they could get McCasland on board …

Enfield is a name for FSU but them Dallas boosters are really giving him a lot of NIL …

I’ve been told Pikiell is on the hot seat at Rutgers …
I've been a critic of his for a minute now but some here disagreed with me.........hmmm , maybe ole pru does know a little about BB..........SP has had talented rosters and did very little with them , and having Harper and Bailey this year should have been his best year at ru.........talented players can't fully overcome mediocre coaching ....they really really can't.....JMHO.....
