Indiana hired Knight and Sampson. Hiring Beard would be easy for them.
And yet they hired Davis, Miller, Crean, Woodson, Alford.

Terrible judge of coaching. Don't know if they have the smarts to realize Beard is greater than May. I think the donor base wants May due to him being from Indiana and to fleece a conference foe. Blinders on.

I don't get the love for Beard. I have seen his teams blow several late leads. Seems to be a choker.

No idea, but would they go after Pitino? Seems like they could get him with their resources and he could turn things around fast.

Shaka won’t ever leave Marquette …

Bennett is a west coast guy and he likes where he’s at …

McCasland is on the fast track to coaching anywhere he wants … He’s on Carolina’s short list … There’s talk Texas would fire Terry if they could get McCasland on board …

Enfield is a name for FSU but them Dallas boosters are really giving him a lot of NIL …

I’ve been told Pikiell is on the hot seat at Rutgers …
As someone who made their bones on this board (as a lurker) during the coaching search after Bruce got canned, its wild to me that Shaka/his wife thought he was too good for Illinois at that time, but now wants to stay at Marquette as a lifer. No disrespect to MU but still....

Aging 12 years and having a kid can wildly alter your expectations and goals.

Pitino wouldn’t leave St. John’s at this point … He’s got it rolling and has just as much NIL as Indiana does … Living in NYC … What’s the incentive to go to Bloomington, Indiana where he will never be “the guy” … It’ll always be Knight …

Shaka does better when it’s just basketball … At Texas or Illinois for example … You have to be more than just a ball coach … Most of these coaches don’t enjoy that … Some tolerate it … Some love it … But the majority hate it …

Sometimes, the right fit is everything. Shaka also went through a rough stretch at Texas and was kind of put through the ringer there. He's adored at Marquette and has a great program there.

Sometimes, grass isn't anywhere close to being greener on the other side. He's making good money in a program where he's the main attraction for the university and seems to be really happy there. Good for him, and it seems like it would be a pretty big risk moving away from that.

Boyton would be an awesome snag from the UM/IU May drama if it happens. While getting OA this offseason was huge, I think a lot of us underestimated how steep the dropoff would be from a staff of:

OA, Tim Anderson, Chester Frazier, Geoff, Hamer
->
OA, Geoff, Hamer, Tyler Underwood

Was never gonna be Chester … Him leaving freed up the $$$ and spot for OA return …

But to go from … OA, TA, Geoff, Tyler, Hamer …

To … OA, Geoff, Tyler, Hamer, Kwa Jones …

With Tyler & Hamer running the show on offense
and defense …

Unacceptable …

They were talking on the radio this morning about Woodson and Hamilton and if Gates may be impacted. Apparently his buyout clause is whatever amount remains on his contract. Right now it's $17M. So not much of a chance he's going anywhere.

What are the odds that at least 2 of Kwa, Hamer, or Tyler are gone?
