I had a thought this weekend regarding the Krush....

During games, they have the "Let's Make Some Noise" part in the second half where they have what I assume is a fake decibel reading to get people to start making noise. Would there be a way to set up a system to actually track sustained/average decibels throughout each game and incentivize higher sustained decibel readings?

For example, could you track individual attendance for a home season through an app, and there's a leader board tracking system for all individuals who attend games, and if they're in attendance for games that registers higher dB's, their is some sort of reward/incentive, such as:

• Priority seating for the next season, or for the first two rows of Orange Krush
• Arena discounts (drinks, food, merch, etc.)
• A local sponsor who pledges some level or rewards for top attendees (similar to McDonald's free throw nuggets)

Just a thought, had a long drive over the weekend so got fixated on trying to come up with a real solution besides "c'mon guys, get it together". God knows the university has enough Computer Science horsepower to get something stood up.
I like the idea of a leader board. They do already have a decibel measuring app that they promote during the game.

Can't see the Illini winning this game with 14 turnovers. Need to keep them around 8 and win the boards. So much depends on hitting shots...and that is not a dependable thing for us.

Agreed, especially because UCLA is one of the slowest playing teams in D-1. Despite the eye test, Illinois is not terrible about turning the ball over, with an average of 16.1% of possessions leading to a turnover (average in D-1 is 17.5%).

UCLA plays an average of 64.6 possessions per game, so a 10 turnover game with 65 possessions would be a better than average turnover game for our squad, if we do end up allowing slow play like we did against Tennessee/Minnesota. 8 turnovers or less would be very good.

Didn’t realize their pace is so slow. If that’s the case yes we need to keep TOs to 10ish, in line with our average.

I think we play pretty well, I also think UCLA is one of the worst "ranked" teams there is.

I think it is close for 30 minutes of the game and then we pull away for a 79-70 win.

I feel like this game will be all about pace.

If the game is in the 60s, we are in trouble. If it's in the 80s or 90s, I like our chances. Just have to drive and kick. Make the offense efficient from both 2 and 3.

UCLA should be a tough game. I think some people forget that Tomi rolled his ankle and was heroic in playing at Minney. An injury like that takes months to heal. Hopefully guys continue to get over the bug that's been going around, and Tomi's ankle holds up.

Let's get real Illini Nation , all the games remaining in the regular season are big games , especially with our losses to nebby and
ru biting us in the arse......We let the zero-izzo game slip from our grasp for many reasons which still bewilder me.......

If we can get results like at minny then we can close the season strong.......I'm encouraged by KJ's performance against minny as he seemed to be free of any hindrances with his wrist and it was the first game he was attacking the rim with a flourish of earlier in the season......

Of course the Illini players available will be the major news for our ability to get a victory.......

Can Tomi continue to play at the level of the last game....

Will KB , DGL , Tre play ?......and at what level production will they muster up ? ..................

How anyone can predict a W or a L right now is beyond me..........I hope the sun rises tomorrow with all able to play at least at 75 %..
If that happens , then I like our chances at home............I really really do......................

hoping for this.....................

Not to nit pick you're totally correct about 80s, but 90s would be nuts haha.

90 would mean a possession change on average every 13.3 seconds, which would be a very fun/chaotic college basketball game.

Rolling your ankle takes months to heal?

If it was a major sprain involving tearing ligaments or high ankle sprain than yeah, but it really just depends on the severity. A lot of times you can be good to go by the next the next day or two.

2 tough games this week. UCLA is playing very well right now. I believe 7 wins in a row. The Illini can't start slow, must be ready to play from tip off. If that happens and they continue to get to the basket I think Illini win-86-81.
MSU comes in on Saturday. Illini should have won in East Lansing gave it up late. I think the Illini hit some 3's in this one and pull it out 88-79

To illustrate this, Big Ten games where we had fewer than 75 points in regulation this year...

L 66-70 in OT at Northwestern
L 72-82 vs. USC (no KJ)
L 71-90 vs. Maryland (no Ivisic)
L 74-80 in OT at Nebraska (no Ivisic)
L 73-82 at Rutgers

... compared to games where we had 80 or more points in regulation this year:

W 86-80 vs. Wisconsin
W 109-77 at Oregon
W 81-77 at Washington
W 91-52 vs. Penn State (no KJ)
W 94-69 at Indiana
W 83-74 vs. Northwestern (no Ivisic)
W 87-79 vs. Ohio State
W 95-74 at Minnesota

So yeah, if we have a score in the 80s ... it means the shots are falling, the energy is there and I think we come away with a W.

I would also like to know if I need to arrive earlier than usual. Our sports marketing team in DIA is very good at a lot of things, but they often neglect to share details like this for the 16K fans who will be attending and might want to know.
I case you didn't find out the ceremony is at halftime tomorrow night
