A new version of the Shield that looks a bit less MS Paint-like and has some of those column elements would be cool.
This shield looks better than the standard one.

Hear me out.......enlarge the Block I to replace "100", then script "Illinois" across the top instead of the Memorial Stadium display.

Big Ten play results by uniform since New Year's...

WHITE SCRIPT
W 83-74 vs. Northwestern

ORANGE FLYIN' ILLINI
W 109-77 at #9 Oregon
W 94-69 at Indiana
L 78-80 at #12 Michigan State

REGULAR WHITE
W 91-52 vs. Penn State
L 72-82 vs. USC
L 71-90 vs. Maryland

REGULAR ORANGE
W 81-77 at Washington
L 74-80 in OT at Nebraska

3-1 in the throwbacks with the only loss being by two points on the road at MSU with RIDICULOUS refereeing on KJ. 2-3 in the regular uniforms, including three straight losses. If we are going to lose, can we at least look cool doing it?! :ROFLMAO:
EDIT: I forgot we wore regular orange at MSU!! Make that 3-0 in throwbacks and 2-4 in regulars.

A plea to Nike’s execs to bring these back as we honor two of the program’s all-time greats.
Football since 2022: Three brand new uniforms, one special 100th anniversary throwback uniform, a custom 100th anniversary logo and five special new helmets just for last year…

Basketball since 2022: Same uniforms we’ve had for the last 7+ years, not even our current throwbacks in different colors and absolutely zero ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of the 20th anniversary of the 2005 team, let alone a throwback uniform.

I’ll take back my comments if they surprise us this late in the year, but … seems like they’re just oblivious.

One of SIU's uniform options. This style is what I would like to see here, at least as an option.

I think that is a good style and all, but I always come back to this ... we HAVE Flyin' Illini uniforms that follow that same basic style except they're just simply superior. So, why not use them? There are VERY few new uniform designs that would try to capture that classic/traditional look that would outclass the Flyin' Illini option. It becomes more and more negligent with each passing year that the space brains at Nike don't just give us the Flyin' Illini uniforms in all three colors. We literally already have the orange (check), we had a version of the white just a few years ago (touch it up, check) and we'd just need the navy ... Nike would have to make ONE frickin' uniform to literally please every single fan and probably double the jersey sales to this fan base.

To ignore the noise from cupcake opponents, updated results by uniform for power conference teams. I organized it by how high their NET Rankings were.

ILLINI WINS
Regular White - W 86-80 vs. #16 Wisconsin
White Script - W 80-77 vs. #22 Missouri (St. Louis, MO)
Regular White - W 83-78 vs. #25 UCLA
Regular White - W 87-79 vs. #28 Ohio State
Orange Flyin' Illini - W 109-77 at #34 Oregon
Orange Flyin' Illini - W 90-77 vs. #41 Arkansas (Kansas City, MO)
Orange Flyin' Illini - W 94-69 at #56 Indiana
White Script - W 83-74 vs. #59 Northwestern
Regular White - W 91-52 vs. #73 Penn State (no KJ)
Regular Orange - W 81-77 at #92 Washington
Orange Flyin' Illini - W 95-74 at #99 Minnesota

ILLINI LOSSES
White Script - L 64-66 vs. #5 Tennessee
Regular Orange - L 87-100 vs. #6 Alabama (Birmingham, AL)
Regular White - L 71-90 vs. #18 Maryland (no Ivisic)
Regular Orange - L 78-80 at #23 Michigan State
Regular Orange - L 74-80 in OT at #47 Nebraska (no Ivisic)
Orange Flyin' Illini - L 66-70 in OT at #59 Northwestern
White Script - L 72-82 vs. #62 USC (no KJ)
White Script - L 73-82 at #69 Rutgers

So wins are 4 Orange Flyin' Illini, 4 Regular White, 2 White Script and 1 Regular Orange. Losses are 3 Regular Orange, 3 White Script, 1 Regular White and 1 Orange Flyin' Illini. Other than the clear fact we should burn the hideous Regular Orange uniforms and never let them see the light of day again (I'd prefer the Regular Navy ones at this point...), there isn't that much of a pattern ... because we don't have that much of a pattern for wearing these uniforms, lol. You can draw a somewhat vague pattern of wearing throwbacks for big games, but then you find clear counter examples like wearing Regular Orange vs. Alabama or Regular White vs. UCLA and then wearing White Script vs. USC and Orange Flyin' Illini at Minnesota.

One interesting and (at least to me) disappointing trend is that we have not worn the Orange Flyin' Illini uniforms at home one time at home this year. The traditional way we have worn our uniforms is white only gets worn at home, navy only gets worn on the road, but orange is a true alternate that can be worn at both. I love seeing us rock the orange at home from time to time, and I hope we bust out the Orange Flyin' Illini uniforms (or, better yet, a surprise 2005 orange throwback!) this Saturday vs. MSU.

I'm rockin' my Kendall Gill orange Flyin' Illini jersey tomorrow to try to will the team to finally wear them at home, haha. However, if by some miracle we run out in these on Saturday...

... I will absolutely lose it, lol.
I own the one on the right. Love it. I wore it to the Oregon game. Someone wanted to buy it from me. lol. no

At Tuesday's game, looking up at Derek Harper and Bruce Douglas's honored jerseys hanging side by side, I noticed for the first time that the Fighting Illini jersey design predated the Flyin' Illini group and the OG design was quite a bit different than the one made famous in 89. Thought it would be interesting to see all the iterations since they were introduced in 1980. I think it's notable that this jersey design isn't specific to one magical team, but different versions were worn by teams throughout the 80's and into the 90's before being recycled as throwbacks starting in 2005. We've worn some version of them at least occasionally in every decade since 1980.

Prior to the Fighting Illini jerseys, we had a few years of script jerseys and a few years of just "Illini" jerseys. Before then, the jerseys had always been an arched "Illinois" design.

Evolution of the Fighting Illini jerseys below:
*It's extremely difficult to find images of the orange and blue jerseys from the early 80s, so it's possible I missed some.

I couldn’t agree more with these jerseys. The white and blue flying illini jerseys need to be back immediately.
