Maybe we should have tried a little zone...

He stands by his coaches until he can’t … There are things he can’t stand behind anymore … Maybe not Brad specifically but there are other things that will need to change …

I'm with you on other things may need to change but this is a really tricky situation.

I don't know who is drawing things up. If the offensive schemes are largely coming from Tyler can Whitman apply pressure for his removal, the coaches son?

I can't agree. The record is becoming clearer with each week. The observations go back years. I understand loyalty (our very own moniker here!), but to win at the highest of levels sometimes calls for very, very tough decisions. I'd make a change. And that is based on years of results, not simply tonight's.

I think some other folks here feel this way too. It's not all about a frustrating loss. It is much deeper than that.

Can Underwood not take a lesson from Josh coming out in front of the jersey situation- Dude didn't hang the jersey but took all accountability for the mishap and owned it, apologized for it, and took it on the chin.

And then you get Brad saying, golly gee, I have no idea why we were forcing so many 3's. Are you freakin kidding me?? I sure as heck know why, I recall too many press conferences and interviews to count where you said "this team shoots the cover off it" "we shot 30, I wish we shot 50" "keep shooting em" and on and on and on. Or the countless times a player has shot a TERRIBLE 3 early in the shot clock with no movement of the ball and you DO NOTHING. BRAD, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM... TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS AND YOUR COACHING. I didn't think I could possibly get more mad, but somehow I am.

Everyone needs to watch that press conference.

Loved Josh before, love him more after watching. Laughed at “spirited conversations”.

Want to be measured on overreaction to Brad, but his comments were extremely disappointing. Blaming the players, especially with two timeouts in his pocket, is poor form. Smirking as KJ took the blame to basically back up his coach’s statements that it was the players’ fault, was bordering on despicable.

I believe the Illini can be great under Brad when they have high-character, experienced leaders wearing the jersey. That doesn’t seem to be a role the coaching staff is interested in owning.

I’m almost always an optimist on this board, but it’s games like this that make me question Underwood as a top-level coach. Where is DGL? Why go away from what’s working with Morez?

He’s dying on the hill of Humrichous and the upsetting part is that it’s not only costing us games right now, it’s also going to lead those guys to leave.

Ugh. F.

Humrichous is no Jaxson Kohler, not even close on his best day, that's for damn sure. Game was lost with same old story, jacking up out of groove 3's and abandoning the inside game, driving to hoop and getting bucket, foul or dishing off for easy score. All the time the game was getting out of hand, Illinois coaches made no adjustments I could see. The team disintegrated, fell apart before our eyes and turnovers at worst possible times. MSU fought harder, wanted the win more and and had better coaching. Amen.

For my part: I hope Brad gets a great offer this April, to coach a fine program. I hope we can in turn find a new coach who will be able to lift the program higher than it has risen with Underwood at the helm. I don't think that will be easy, as Underwood is a very, very good coach. But ... that's what I hope.

Summary of similar thing I posted after the Rutgers game.

So Illini are playing AWEFUL.

My prediction for rest of the season

- Team wins 1 more game, maybe
- Ends up 18 and 13, 10 and 10 in big 10
- Lose 1st game in BIG 10 tournament
- With an 18 and 14 record, don't get in NCAA tournament,
- Get in NIT and lose 1st game.
-Shoot 20% from 3 for rest of year but take 30+ 3s a game. Average 16 turnovers per game.
