So much for that

IU is going to try was the key phrase there ...

They screwed up ... Should have done it last year ...

I said it on here before that Dusty wanted to come to IU last year and felt disrespected they didn't make the move ... And I didn't know if Dusty would be able to get over that ... It appears he hasn't ...

People will argue but you can have just as much success at Michigan as you can at IU (I'd argue more) ... And not deal with the absolutely insane people that are IU fans ...

The buyout did only go to $7.5 million ... That's couch change to some IU boosters ...

IU people are scrambling ... I am now hearing Mark Byington and Ben McCollum ... Along with some Mick Cronin chatter ...

I don't think either are bad coaches but my goodness ... If you think you are a blue blood ... You better be able to hire a guy better than that ...

Chris Beard would be the no-brainer but I don't think IU is smart enough to figure that out ...

Chris Collins would be intriguing to me ... He can really, really coach ... But he does really well with the chip on the shoulder guys ... How would he do with elite talent and managing egos ...

From outside perspective, Mick Cronin would seem like a pretty good hire for them. I’m not sure if would satisfy the fan base but it’d be a pretty decent upgrade, even if it’s not a homerun hire.

I've been reading this post with a certain level of personal reflection. I had a position of meaningful responsibility in my working career. I rarely, if ever, got straight talk from my bosses. You guys are quite the opposite. I wonder how much more motivated, how much better I would have been if I got this temperature check from my observers?

I hope Brad is reading these types of posts. They keep you grounded, humble and hungry. I like Brad and believe he's a highly motivated guy, but he's fighting against a bunch of other crazy, hungry coaches and teams.

Go Illini

He'd win ... But he wouldn't win a national championship so IU fans would say he's terrible ...

Mick would also lose that fanbase so quickly I feel like ... One post-game rant at a time ... Even if he's right about what he's saying ...

Think a lot of us would be fine if Brad had some of this fire ...

Collins gets a lot out of nothing, reminds me of bringing Craig Counsell to the Cubs (which has yet to work out). He seems like a lifer and he's at home where he is now, so tough to see him leaving IMO

How do we let TA just take the year off, paid? He signed the contract, if he didn’t like it, he should have resigned. I would have had him coming in after hours and cleaning the locker rooms and doing laundry! Seems more like we suspended him with pay?

The NIL world changes everything and now any team can, if they do it right, take money and build themselves a winner. And Indiana is a B1G school, which comes with some built in advantages. Having said that…

Indiana considers itself a blue blood and points to its five banners as proof. Fair enough. But that last banner is approaching 40 years of age. Touting that success is reminiscent of my dad waxing nostalgically about national powers San Francisco and CCNY in thr 50s and 60s. To today’s kids, IU’s glory days are in the history books.

Yea, still a low buyout.

I think there's really no appreciable difference in your ability to win at the blue bloods compared to the next tier down like illinois and Michigan. And like you said. The expectations are off the chart at the blue bloods.

I think the Kentucky experience shows that getting top coaches to jump into those jobs isn't so easy any more.

I like Brad and think he is a good coach, but I think he also relies on Tyler's opinion too much. I know he is trying to teach his son the ropes as any dad would do. Brad is getting paid big bucks to coach this team, and he should be in the huddle drawing up plays, chewing butt and making the in-game adjustments. I do think he needs to tell them to go to the basket, draw fouls or pass back out for a three in the flow of the game instead of just throwing up the ball and clanging it off the rim. This team is only going as far as KJ, Tomi and Will take them. It's time to put up or SHUT UP!

Cronin gets some grief here and a lot of other places. He's a little too abrasive for his own good too often. But the guy can coach. Has a trip to the FF to prove it. IU could do a lot worse. I don't know if he has any interest in moving from UCLA or if he would have any interest in IU but if I was AD I'd at least reach out to add him to my list.
