The UCLA FT’s at the end resulted in a score that does not reflect how tough we played.
So love this team. I think they out rebounded us by one! KB worked so hard on D I think it impacted her at the offensive end. Still, she was two points from a double double! I think our legs were giving out in the 4th, but we took the 3rd by 21-11! Let’s go take on those Trojans.

Great effort by the basketball team, never gave up and felt like they could have taken the lead several times. The fouling approach in the last minute or so really felt like they were practicing for the tourney! Got a few good pics from the game... Adalia McKenzie is fearless! Look at the 2nd pic as she goes straight into Lauren Betts. Looking forward to cheering them on at USC on Sunday.

For such a big-time program as UCLA, pretty substandard press facilities.
I've been on the UCLA campus before. Surprisingly, their facilities are really not that great. Pauley Pavilion is aging and worn down. They don't have an on-campus football stadium (obviously playing in the Rose Bowl). For how great some of their non-revenue sports like softball, soccer, and track & field have been, I didn't think their facilities were all that great. It was surprising.

I think we have a much better chance at USC,but where KN had her drudges last night Adalia will have to deal with a 6 ft 2 monster with JuJu as well, and she is one who can score 40 to help her team win... We just need her to do it 35 shots lol..I do think we have a better shot against them because Betts was just the right formula to beatI these seniors...We do need maybe one horse.. If we can get a duplicate performance out of Hayven maybe 5 or 6 more of those at the rim shots to go in,and not get so tight and the free throw line,We can win.. 1 and 1 on this trip will change our seed..And almost guarantee a double bye which would be very very nice for them..

HOME COOKING IN LA LA LAND......................The Illini ladies displayed an artistic performance of courage and heart going on the road against a top 5 opponent battling a serious height disadvantage along with an overly aggressive ucla defense that bumped , clawed and held the Illini without much recourse from the officials........numerous times were observed of the Illini getting hacked on made layups with no calls .......another time a ucla player threw a ball b ack in bounds and the replay and announcers said the replay clearly showed the ucla player's foot was on the line OOB's........

While those instances were not directly the cause of the loss , they clearly didn't help our mission of a big roadkill victory........I was truly excited when H. Smith closed out the 3rd qtr with the putback to close us within 4 points , but the 4th qtr was not kind to us at all........the final score was not indicative of how well we played......

Ms. McKenzie was a dynamo throughout the full 40 minutes and carried us for large portions of the match.........
Ms. Wallace is a budding star with her hard nosed play and becoming a deadly 3 point assassin.........
Ms. Bostic's rib area surely has some bruising from all the Edny-esque elbow shots thrown by L. Betts........

I applaud the Illini's effort and look forward to watchung them play Sunday against another top 5 team in usc.............

In fact , the WBB squad is much more enjoyable to watch , for me right now , than the MBB team.......they really really are.....

Great summation as always. I think we have a better chance against USC. Got some jitters out of the way now.

Trinity Jones, Naperville Central HS junior, has returned from a torn ACL injury. Big target in the next recruiting class, and one we'll be tracking in the upcoming spring and summer club basketball seasons and on the school visit calendar. ESPN ranks her the #8 class of 2026 recruit in the nation.

She's being wooed by all the top programs, but let's hope she's seriously considering the state school!

Brandon Clay - 247 Sports Director of Scouting, Women's Basketball:
"When healthy, Jones is one of the premier guards in America. She has the skill and athleticism to create off the dribble and can also push the tempo on offense, attacking the paint to score. Her length allows coaches to potentially use her at any of the three guard or wing positions, depending on the matchup."

For perhaps some of the newer fans of the Illini Women: know that in Shauna Green's FIRST season at Illinois on Jan 1, 2023, the Illini knocked off Caitlin Clark & #12 Iowa in a huge upset. Also here is a chance to see Makira Cook for those that have not seen her. Her loss due to a medical condition as the Illini's leader & star this year is/was a huge blow to the team. However, Coach Green has expertly guided everybody through without complaint & fanfare to much success.

How fun. Thanks for posting that!

#25 Illini at #4 USC at 3pm CST on FS1. Win or lose, guaranteed to be a hangover cure for last night's game. Regardless of outcome, the Illini will play extremely hard and smart. Coach Green will not make excuses post-game even with a severely depleted roster. Go Illini and get back home safely.
