103 of 105 brackets have them in right now. They should win at least 2 of their last 3. KenPom:47 NET:54 2 more regular season wins and a conference tourney win or 2 and they are for sure in....so no I don't see a world where they fire Fred.

Agree … Think Fred is back at Nebraska …

And I really like the Rhymes kid they got coming in …

Shoot, I think Hoiberg would have us in the top 25 most of the time over the next 5 years with our resources and if we kept OA on staff.

I’m happy IU fans think he’s beneath them.

Hoiberg wouldn’t be on the top 10 candidate list for us … That’s not to say he isn’t a good coach … We’re just at a different level as a program at this point …

How bad does that start to effect recruiting if we are known as a place that underachieves and that Brad can't develop anyone. I imagine at first its cost more NIL money but at some point you can't buy your way out of that I would think.
I would be surprised if recruits cared about the underachieving aspect. Matters more to boosters and fan base. As far as “can’t develop anyone”, that’s just not true. TSJ went from a late 2nd rounder to a 1st round pick under Brad. KJ went from mid-late 1st to lottery.

Had to google this to be sure, but I remember watching him play some for Creighton in the tourney when his dad worked in my office. Was born in Decatur, according to Wiki.
I saw that too, couldn’t find anything else about it. Guy is a rising star in the industry. Recruited some studs for Creighton

If Josh Whitman was the athletic director instead of inept Ron Guenther Bill Self would have never gotten away . If Bill Self would have stayed at Illinois and not gone to Kansas I guarantee you Illinois would have at least one National Championship by now . Bruce Weber, Groce and Underwood ain’t it . We have NIL and state of the art basketball facilities now all we need is the right coach. Bill Self 3 years at Illinois record is still better than Underwood’s 8 seasons

Not sure they can do a whole lot better than Fred. He is a really good coach, and well liked

Plus, Nebraska is going to be hell-bent on spending their House money on football, plus volleyball is a massive, massive draw for them. Nebraska needs to hold onto Hoiberg unless they are certain there's an option that can succeed with little NIL money.

It's news to me that no one has developed under Brad.
Narratives aren't always true. I think you are assuming I think that. I don't. But if that's the reputation and/or what other schools are going to say when recruiting then it doesn't matter what you and I think.

Considering all the historic success (or lack thereof) that Nebraska has had in basketball, they would be made to fire Fred. This would be the first back-to-back NCAA appearances in over 30 years. And if they get out of the first round for the first time, they might as well build him a statue.

I agree, its not true but that doesn't mean that can't become the reputation he has. Its also hard to say yes we underachieve but he's good at development. Being good at development and underachieving are contradictory.

I think there's a lot to that, especially in the sense that no one who replaces him is remotely similar. Morez is great but he's an entirely different type of player, and any time we try to get away with Humrichous at the 5 we wind up trying to have Boswell or someone guard 7-footers and the whole thing goes lopsided.

An incredibly skilled, pro-tested 7-footer who can shoot as a complementary, essentially role player is a pretty unique weapon.
This was my take about 3-4 games into the year. KJ is our BEST player but, TOMI MAKES HIM so much better! The floor spacing and drives to the basket absolutely vanished while he was out and sick. The Spain double drag was almost unguardable because it was either a KJ drive to the basket, a TOMI Spot up or roll, or a shooter popping out. Pick your poison.

He makes us a completely different team.

Can you show me any evidence that "BU hasn't developed anyone" is a common narrative outside of the a group of hyper-critical Illini fans, who loudly post their opinions within a bubble of other Illini fans?

Glad to see the stink of the Bulls/GarPax is wearing off and he's found his coaching niche and is having success.
