Listening to BU on STL 101.1 espn radio.
Rez not playing tomorrow.
Doubled down on difficulty of schedule.
Said they were in on KJ for 2 years.
Tomi practiced 3 times in 5 weeks.
Said IL BB #1 in B1G revenue last 3 years.
Singing praises of JW and the administrations support.
My perpecticd: Way too much here in STL… … disproportionate coverage.
Solid 12-13 minute interview. Good to have air time here in the Lou.
I L L….
Sounds like a little distance perspective was worth having. Thank you for posting that.

Purdue is tough. This would be a really good win. Hoping for a victory. Johnson can't come back soon enough.

For the season, Purdue has lost 6 of 7 games when Smith had a Game Score less than 10. TKR less than 10, they went 0-3. They have won 11 of 17 when Loyer had a GS less than 10. Two guys to limit if you want to beat Purdue, IMHO.

Too bad about Morez but long term healthy career is more important than BTT games. We are very dangerous even without him.
It would be great to get him back by March 20 (2 more weeks) for NCAA tournament. Only the doctors know but I think its good sign to have cast off.

Watching that Purdue-Rutgers game made it harder to predict this game tomorrow. Purdue looked great, but my god it seemed like every three point attempt was WIDE open.

I know we have had our defensive shortcomings the past two months and opponents have shot threes well even in our home building, but I guarantee the Boilers won't be getting the same open looks tomorrow. Could Purdue still make a good amount of threes, sure, but it won't be as easy as it was Tuesday.

Rutgers also does not have anyone as big as Tomi, so TKR was able to have a pretty easy time in the paint as well. Hopefully he can stay out of foul trouble, although TKR isn't much bigger than Ben or Tre so it's not as dire of a mismatch if there are foul issues.

This will also be the first time Illinois will have the post size advantage over Purdue since, maybe Mike Tisdale?

Have you heard something that would indicate Morez won't be back for the BTT? It sounds like that is still the plan, coach just said he won't play against Purdue, but they hope to have him back for postseason, meaning BTT is how I took that

Curious to see how Ben does this game. Getting benched and having your role reduced can have one of two effects, it can either destroy whatever confidence is left or it can take the pressure off. For 2 games it’s seemed like the latter with Ben. Curious to see if it continues or if these were just a couple of good games in what has been a “good game/bad game” season for him.

For the record, I expect another good game (hit a couple of 3s, grab a few rebounds in 20ish minutes) as I think this Luke Goode type role fits him well and is what he should have been in months ago.

To me the adjustments we’ve made the last couple of games remind me of the movie the Founder. About halfway through the movie when Kroc is barely breaking even, he has a meeting with Harry Sonneborn who tells Kroc he doesn’t understand what business he’s in. He’s not in the burger business, he’s in the real estate business.

Likewise, I know we built this team to be a shooting team, but for whatever reason we aren’t that. But what we are is a team who can use our positional size and cutting and passing to be dominant from 2. By moving Humrichous to the bench I think that shows maybe they’ve finally realized what kind of team they have.

I will like to see him in couple of games before the Ncaa tournament if possible in order for him to shake off any possible rust even if it’s limited minutes.

There are literally ZERO illini who aren't eligible to return next year. Ben is the lone senior, but he will almost certainly play CBB next year (whether that's here or elsewhere).

The only guys on this team who won't be playing college ball next year is KJ and Will, who are one and done freshman.

Senior night it is for the record, but not so much for the essense.
