And Brad would be an idiot for doing that. Forget basketball, as an employee in the private sector, if you're not looking around and at least dipping your toes in the water of other companies, you're not doing yourself any favors. You should ALWAYS have your employer know your market value. Things happen over time. We have fans on here that wanted him fired just three weeks ago. Who's to say his employer doesn't put that heat on?

Kentucky fans turned on Cal and he only brought in amazing talent, won a national championship and were consistently in the top 10. That wasn't enough for that clown show of a fanbase. It happens.

Always keep your options open and know what others think of you. Should things ever go sour, it's just a matter of a couple of phone calls.

I'd agree to that to a point. it's one thing to know your market value, and it's another to come back to your boss every year and force him/her to mark you to that market value (not saying brad does this). In my experience, you do that too often, and it just shortens your leash if/when things get bad. When your boss has to make those hard decisions, could (and does, in my experience) come back to bite you.

Obviously, high level coaching when millions are involved is a bit of a different story, but the point still stands to some degree.

I'm not trying to downplay what Brad Stevens does as president/GM of the Celtics, as I'm sure he does work hard for his excellent compensation. But I'd have to think he has something much closer to "regular hours" than what he would have as a coach at either the NBA or college level. I cannot imagine he'd ever want to return to the grind of film study, etc. as a coach compared to that of a front office executive.
And he never dealt with the portal or NIL!

I would disagree. As an employer, who has taken very good care of Brad, Josh should have an expectation of loyalty, not wondering if he is constantly looking for his next job. When Brad came here, making less $ then he is today, he accepted that pay happily and told us this was his dream job he wanted to retire at. Josh, after bumping his pay, increasing the assistant coaching pool $, providing outstanding NIL, and pretty much anything else Brad could want, has earned more respect. I would say continuing to evaluate other opportunities it is ungrateful and a huge slap in the face.

Brownell passes to stay at Clemson … McCollum says no …

The list becomes Schertz & Shrews … And I’m not even sure who else but other coaches essentially in that group …

YIKES …
Any idea how many coaches have told them no? I know some are repeats, but it is quite a few.

I pray for god they hire Brownell
I assume because it would be underwhelming? I don't know much about him but if he has another run in the tourney this year then I'm sure he'll get some interest since they did go to elite 8 last year. Just looking at his acc record, it leaves a lot to desire outside of the last 3 years.

i'm still not clear why he was fired at louisville. i get that he underachieved (surprising given his track record at xu), but i understand it had to do with how he handled being extorted?

Why are people passing in Indiana job? Seems like a good job. Big Ten. Top 15 salary. Top 15 NIL.

Doesn’t seem like the desirable Blue Bloods many want to keep grouping them with.

From multiple coaches on that list … This is how the communication I got went …

“Indiana called me *laughs* … Only good thing they got is NIL … Everything else sucks … Are they even a top 5 Big Ten job ??? Not in my mind …”

Should tell IU fans and really everyone how the IU job is perceived …

He shouldn’t have been fired …

Mack is a good dude … Great family guy … And a heckuva coach … And someone I have a great amount of respect for …

Louisville was a poverty program that Pat Kelsey is reviving … Mack was doomed from the start … And he will tell you himself if he knew everything with the sanctions and penalties and all that was going to shake out like it did … He wouldn’t have taken the job … He would’ve stayed at Xavier …

As far as the extortion goes … Dino Gaudio is nothing but a flat out BUM and Mack handled it MUCH better than I would’ve …

Mack has unfinished business at Xavier and I hope he gets to finish it if Sean leaves …

That I know of …

Brad Stevens, Nate Oats, TJ Otz, Chris Beard, Todd Golden, Grant McCasland, Buzz Williams
I can understand the other coaches on this list turning IU down, but when you get Buzz Williams turning you down to stay at Texas A&M, I think it's time to start readjusting your expectations as a fan base.

If Sean Miller takes the IU job, holiday gatherings with his brother could be fun.

It’s a good job … Not a great job …

If you’re already in a good job …

Flirt with Indiana … Get your extension/salary bump from your current good job … Get your current boosters to cough up some more NIL so you’ll stay … And that’s all it amounts to … 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think I misread your post about "Sean" and "mutual interest". You meant Texas, didn't you? With all of the IU talk, I completely moved past the "Sean and Bevo" photos.

Sorry for the confusion if that is indeed the case.

Also they expect a Sweet 16 in your first 2-3 years there. It’s not a rebuild situation like it was when Crean took it over. Would be hilarious if Woodson somehow ended up staying because they win a tournament game. How have they not called Will Wade? Any updates on jobs he’d be interested in? Sounds like he is out at NC state
