Brownell passes to stay at Clemson … McCollum says no …

The list becomes Schertz & Shrews … And I’m not even sure who else but other coaches essentially in that group …

YIKES …
I’ve seen that Greg McDermott is the heavy betting favorite. Is that not accurate?

This … How many other coaches can say this ???

Definition of never rebuilding … Only reloading …

He’s getting former top 100 kids to go to McNeese State for a can of Pepsi, some peanuts and half a cookie
Umm...yeah, I ate that half cookie. So it's just Pepsi and peanuts

It's all fun and games making fun of Indiana fans and lord knows I'm loving seeing them struggle, but that is one of the best jobs in the country and having so frequently been the "delusional fan base" I always find that stuff this time of year really silly and gross.

The teams whose fanbases truly care about basketball deserve basketball success. True for us, sadly true for Indiana by the same token.

This is one of the worst CBB seasons in recent memory on that metric, not good for the sport.
They’re still paying their penance for bending the knee to Bobby Knight.

I think him and Villanova(Neptune should get fired) would make a lot of sense. His Dad lives out there now and his brother in law is a high school coach around there I’m pretty sure.
I never thought about Villanova for Collins, but that makes a TON of sense for him. He'd have a much better chance to be competitive there and in the Big East than at Northwestern and the Big Ten. If I'm Villanova, I absolutely call him to see what he's thinking.

I just don’t see him leaving Creighton …
The only thing I could see is that he's at the age where he gets one last big payday. He's almost 61, so he goes somewhere to get a final major contract without a lot of personal risk. If he flops, he has his big contract and retires even more comfortably. If he's successful, it's quite the cap to his career.

I would agree that I don't see him leaving Creighton, but I think the personal motivation would be there if he's really interested.

While I don’t disagree with you, I’m guessing he’s loaded and doesn’t have to worry about money at all.

I might be wrong, as I know most people spend what they make, but he’s probably making 4-6 mil a year, right?

It doesn’t seem like Minnesota is willing or able to put BIG level resources into their basketball program. Not sure what else they expected Johnson to do. Actually built a pretty good team last year but was just decimated by the portal and had a bit of good luck/ bad luck with Cam Christie developing so well he got drafted after one year.

Similar to Wisconsin calling for Gard’s head after last year. If you’re going to put your program in a position to have to identify and develop 3 stars and go shopping in the portal bargain bin, can do a lot worse than Ben Johnson or Greg Gard.

According to this site, McDermott made just under 3M (assuming base) in 2023.

The article makes clear this doesn't include any outside income, so it's probably not a major stretch to say close to $4M is a reasonable estimate for McDermott's "all-in" compensation.

Meanwhile, Woodson's salary (again, assuming base here) was reported in 2023 as 4.2M.

McDermott doesn't strike me as someone who'd live an overly lavish lifestyle (grew up on a farm in Northeast Iowa), and I would imagine you can live in Omaha on 3M a year VERY comfortably, so I'm guessing it would probably take a substantial raise to convince McDermott to jump from Creighton. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I'd probably be asking for $5M to compensate for leaving a good and comfortable situation at Creighton for Indiana.

Make the call Brad! I like this guy for some unknown reason. Always had weak teams but seemed to coach up his players to play above their abilities.
i like him too. I watch a lot of coach post Illinois game interviews, Always thought he was a good guy.

Minnesota needs to start acting like they're one of the 10 largest schools in the country and have been for decades. They don't have the infrastructure of their peer schools, then every few years blame a coach for not being as successful as their peer schools.
