I think we got a good draw, but i do think we have the toughest 11 seed matchup. Drake would've been a much less dangerous matchup because they know their coach is gone. Texas has a potential top 4 pick in the draft, Xavier's talented, both teams are talented. Drake isn't talented they're just capable of shooting well.

Money and facilities relative to Florida the possible determining factor there (I'm assuming Golden's wife just wants out of Gainesville no matter what, so that factor is a moot point for any possible move)? When looking at the programs right now, I'd put Florida above Texas. So Golden would have to think he can do a lot more with the Texas program than what's currently being done.
I honestly have no idea what they could be miffed about. The University did not publicize the complaint (the school newspaper did - they probably obtained it from an accuser), quietly investigated it, while Golden continued to coach with no suspension or action taken against him, and then closed the investigation without releasing any of its (potentially embarrassing) contents to the public. I'm not sure what more he could have asked for.
Has to be some skeletons in the closet or the Mrs. really does NOT like Gainesville.
If there are skeletons in the closet, the fastest way for them to see daylight is to leave UF. They may not want to look like they covered something up, but can certainly leak details that might not raise to the level of immediate firing or felt like they needed a second source to confirm and nobody came forward at that time.
Said differently, if Golden leaves UF might be willing to take a black eye if they can draw blood from Golden.
As crazy as it sounds ... If McCollum leaves Drake, I've heard Porter's name for that job ...
No ... I think Golden legitimately is trying to leave ...

Everything I'm going to write here is my own opinion. Given we as fans have clearly witnessed what can happen when someone is put up unfairly in the court of public opinion, I don't want to insinuate at all that I think Todd Golden is guilty of anything. As you said, the investigation didn't publicly disclose anything that could have been damaging.
This feels either like the Goldens are through with Gainesville after what Todd went through and there wasn't any substance to it OR there wasn't anything that was serious enough for a violation but enough somehow disclosed where Megan Golden has said to her husband, "You can stay here, but not with me." The breadth of connections (UCLA, Texas, the NBA connections - which I have to assume includes Sacramento and the Clippers given they are West Coast teams that are either definitely or probably looking for new coaches soon) given the on-court situation at Florida just does not seem like your typical "I'm testing the market" inquiries. Obviously, I could be 100% wrong about this, but something seems different about this compared to the "Underwood's agent is sending out feelers" stuff that we've discussed on this board to no end.
Without airing too many details out there ... Golden and his circle feel like the University really didn't back him when it came to the allegations ... They found nothing and instead of defending their guy, they are almost like "you're on thin ice" kind of a deal if that makes sense ...
The Mrs. HATES Gainesville ... The fans and some members of the administration could not have treated her any worse throughout that entire process ... And that is their opinion and based on the details I have been told, I share that opinion ...
It is also worth noting that she grew up in Texas and her parents still live in Texas ...

But in all seriousness, what is the ratio of Cronin’s buyout to Golden’s buyout? If the ratio is greater than 1, I’d imagine UCLA could negotiate to get that closer to 1 than it is.
Glad to hear that’s the case for his sake opposed to some lingering issue regarding the investigation.

OK, that also makes a lot of sense. That was kind of where I was going with my first assumption, but you summarized it a lot better. Obviously, I really only have the TSJ situation on which to base thoughts. But Illinois pretty much backed TSJ as much as they possibly could. I'm guessing no one at the DIA was overly upset that the university had the injunction about the suspension upheld so he could play. While the media was going nuts about TSJ not speaking, the coaching staff and DIA 100% backed that. I obviously didn't follow the Golden situation as closely as I did the TSJ situation, but if the Goldens felt they weren't backed, I could easily see why they would say "Eff this, we're out."
I've been in a situation like that in the past (not anything related to stalking/sexual assault, but still something that attacked my integrity with zero basis in fact or reality). When you have people attacking your character with no evidence or reason and those working with you do nothing to publicly and strongly back you, it's a lonely feeling. If the Goldens feel like that, I can fully see why they are 100% ready to move on.

If McCollum is going to Iowa, it would seem DeVries to Indiana would be logical ...
I figure Geoff would take the Eastern job if it opens and he is asked. That would be a huge loss on the recruiting front, especially internationally.
