Texas opening update ...

CDC focused on 4 names ... Sean Miller, Will Wade, Brad Underwood, Bill Self (yes this is legit) ...

Ivey may get an interview but I think CDC is going to go the route of a proven college coach ...
I would think if Texas tries to string this along until early April, Wade will be signed elsewhere. I think it's Miller's gig if he wants it. JMHO.

Some people may not like Will Wade's comments today ... But that dude has been and always will be a straight shooter ... And I respect that ...
Thanks for everything you bring to the board...

You made an interesting comment about the way Devries treats people, seemed like maybe not a high number on a scale of 1-10...

Just curious if you could comment on that aspect of BU's dealings with people as an HC?

It’s a bit laughable to hear some of these coaches complain about the transfer portal and then read about all of this going on at the same time.
Coaches have always been hypocrites on a large scale. Look at Saban whining about the death of the concept of the student athlete and paying players while he shills for Aflac.

Players are a bit too mobile now, but the idea that they were nearly totally immobile before also wasn't fair.

Adding Bill Self to this list seems like a move that one would do to watch "the media" run with something you made up tomorrow while you sit back and laugh...

If Texas hasn't called Wade and said "Don't sign that paperwork yet!"

This is the coming battle within basketball coach negotiation. Which schools are going to be willing to up the ante in revenue share? Which schools have enough donor appetite to fill in the gaps (and go beyond)? Will programs without football have a big advantage because they'll be the top dog for revenue share?
Does Kevin Willard realize that he’s … Kevin Willard?

Love or hate the guy, I have zero problem with what he said. If this was BU and UI was doing the same things, every single one of us would be up in arms over it!

I can't believe there is even a thought other than Will Wade in Austin right now.

You're Texas...you don't give a 💩 about recruiting violations. You're lining up Lambos..

Will Wade should be number 1 for every job opening in America ...

Any AD who wants to say "recruiting violations" isn't serious about winning and their program has probably been poverty for years ...

Cal just showed Self you can remake yourself by moving schools. I think Self's problems are self-inflicted, he has all that money to work with, but doesn't really build a team, just a collection of guys.

Financially overall, Texas blows Illinois out of the water, like double the athletic revenue and spending. They just don't pay their basketball people nearly as much as they could and should if they want to be serious about basketball.

Honestly, in all of the years of seeing him, now granted, I don't see a ton of KU post game.....I never knew he had a stutter. Yeah, if he's got any anxiety over it, not a good role for him, which is too bad. He seems like an incredibly personable guy.

That will change in time. Question is, does it change in time to facilitate pulling BU away from Illinois anytime soon, or someone else from somewhere else? I guess we will see here very soon won't we???

Which is why we shouldn’t allow ourselves to lose a coach to Texas. We have better tradition and fan support, and our facilities are about equal … so if their main $trength is neutralized by them not allocating enough to hoops, why would our fans just automatically assume we couldn’t fend off Texas Basketball, assuming we wanted to keep Brad? I think Indiana or Michigan would assume they could keep their guy, and so should we.

Wow. Too much to spend an extra night in NYC. Didn’t seem like an unreasonable ask plus how much does basketball bring in for the school
I’m surprised this is even a thing. No business I’ve ever worked for would do that, and I’ve spent most of my career working for banks. It just seems entitled to ask that. He’s loaded so why even ask? But was he asking for himself or the whole team?

Yeah, the transfer portal combined with NIL is bad for the sport, team, fans, and coaches. But it’s better for the players and at the end of the day, the player’s best interests need to be taken into account.

Just remember, in a few years you will be able to toss their cell phone out the window along with a stick of deodorant and an acoustic guitar and tell them to head for the border.
