I agree, hoping for another full season for him because I definitely see the potential.

Just come up with a rule, say you can't cross it, enforce it regardless of circumstance, and you might stop losing every court case.

I remember we had a laugh on these boards when Locksley was looking at getting Tualia an extra year of eligibility because he threw 12 passes in five games for Alabama as a freshman. Now our coaching staff is essentially asking for the same thing.

I don't have a problem with it. If the NCAA truly wanted to have fairly leveraged amateurism, they should have fairly leveraged it from the beginning. But the truth before this was that every waiver appeal was already on a case by case basis. It was never leveraged fairly and definitely still seemed to benefit the schools that are/were the "haves" of cfb. If anything, it's more equalized than it was, not counting the finances involved.

The vast majority of players will still suit up for the last time in college. Let them play.

Bailey's a different type of player than those guys. He doesn't have the speed to be an "all over the field" playmaker. He thrives off of play anticipation in the box

Happy to have disagreement, but I have yet to see a lawsuit implying that certain programs are benefiting from eligibility limits while others are not, so I'm not sure of your reference. Every case I've seen so far is arguing that the NCAA is arbitrarily arguing certain events are exemptions but others are not, which showcases bias, but never seen a player argue they would be eligible at a different school.

There was some hubbub about how Luke Ford couldn't play right away but another player who transferred to a blue bloods was able to play in a similar situation.

Why did the player with 1 catch have to sit a year???

These are two very different petitions, it's not two petitions under the same (old) clause and the NCAA interpreting them differently. Fields wasn't the only athlete that used the player safety petition and was immediately eligible that year, which means it's not a Georgia or Ohio State argument anymore.

I know that seems dramatic coming from TeRah asking for an extra year because of a few snaps in a fifth game, but the judges overseeing these cases are saying these examples are the problem, the lack of a "line in the sand" is what is eroding the NCAA's power to have any rules on when players have to stop playing college football.

Long term, this is a very bad thing for college sports.

I'm still gobsmacked that Zach Edey didn't sign a lifetime contract with Purdue. No way they would lose in court. Edey would just be a perpetual grad student, making $10 mln/year for 15-20 years and bringing a bunch of Natty's home to West Lafayette.
