Just a fun night

- Might be lost a bit in this...but KJ was really, really good defensively tonight. Some guys hit some tough shots, but he was giving it all he had.

- Tomi is just so skilled for his size, great passer and a really good shooter. Such a terrific asset to have.

- Once will settled in...it was heater time. So glad he and KJ are able to experience a tournament win and hopefully a few more.

- Brad had em ready to play tonight. Glad he is our coach. Period.

I know he stunk on the stat sheet, but Ben had the best +/- with +18. Clearly was doing something on the defensive end that Tre couldn’t match
Ben did have some good defensive series, but I really have to say again as someone who has worked on engines for sporting based statistics, +/- is not a good predictor for success or performance. Hockey figured this out over a decade ago when they began noticing that all star defensemen would have bear random +/- season to season. They didn't get magically worse or better, but a combination of "puck luck" and performance of other players was the larger reason.

+/- can be a little useful at least in helping to identify lineups that appear to work better than others in a vacuum, but outside of that it's just not a good stat, because it cannot determine who or what is actually actively driving that +/-, who or what is a passive passenger riding the wave, and who is a lead anchor. And yes, sometimes players with great +/- are actually lead weights, but they have 4 teammates who are just going off.

Ben had some standout defensive possessions today but that's where it begins and ends. He struggled hard tonight

The brighter the lights the worse he plays look at his game logs. It’s much more likely that all too typical empty stat line will sink us against UK.
I don’t who had more minutes between he and Tre White but with the way Tre has played the last eight games or so he should have a lot more minutes than Hum brick house.

His defense was good as usual. Cut off drives to the basket. His offense was HORRIBLE. Shot like his hair was on fire, in a bad way.

He has two more years. Ohio kid. Maybe show his skills for one year playing in the Big 10 for the Orange & Blue!

I’ll say this for Ben: that one save on a loose ball was key, otherwise…

But that performance was realistically exactly what I wanted to see. PUMPED for Sunday!
I lose patience with BH because he was specifically brought in here to hit three-pointers, and let's be honest, he's been brutal.

Yes, he has hit a big three here and there or tipped a ball on the offensive end for an Illini rebound, but he's getting paid a lot of money to make three-pointers, and he's been very disappointing. That's a fair criticism even if he's Mr. +100 Stat Man.
