He really is a tool. Leader of men, huh? Absolutely no graciousness in a loss. Eff him.
And people wonder why so many people can’t stand Danny Hurley…..
Exactly. Saying a coach’s success is a carry job by XXX player is one of the stupidest takes ever. Name one championship team which didn’t have someone who “carried” the team.Unless they're inherited from a previous coaching staff why does it make sense to judge a coach by subtracting players they've recruited and nurtured to make a point? Especially when that player averaged 13 minutes and 7 points per game off the bench in one of the seasons you're negating.
is UCONN going 5 or 6 minutes without a field goal in the second half because of the refs too? get outta here with that nonsense HurleyAnd people wonder why so many people can’t stand Danny Hurley…..
I only watched the second half, but I saw nothing from the officiating that led me to even start thinking they were getting hosed.
True, but Clingan played 31 minutes against Purdue. And he was the main reason our Illini couldn't score against them. Plus he had 22 points against the Illini.Unless they're inherited from a previous coaching staff why does it make sense to judge a coach by subtracting players they've recruited and nurtured to make a point? Beard would if he were also a incontinently pugnacious, stream-of-consciousness invective-spewing, sore-losing narcissist. I can't ever recall a national title-winning coach with such a lack of sportsmanship, self-awareness, and graciousness. Bob Knight looked positively civilized compared with Hurley.don't get the raging hate for Hurley on this board. Dude coaches with a passion and does it well. Acts douche and arrogant sometimes but he has earned it with his 2-peat. Chris Beard, who's an actual wife beater, doesn't even get half of Hurley's hate here. lol what
I dislike Duke, but want the SEC to fail more.Duke up 17 at half. Pretty rare occurrence (over the last few years at least) that's there's gonna be no 1 seed losing before the S16 and no top 4 seed losing in Round 1.
Baylor is in the Big 12.I dislike Duke, but want the SEC to fail more.
Ug. Never mind.Baylor is in the Big 12.
I agree with everything you've said, but I also think it's great for the sport as a whole to have such an unabashed [choose your own characterization - all of mine would/should trip the censor function...] for everyone else to root against.Beard would if he were also a incontinently pugnacious, stream-of-consciousness invective-spewing, sore-losing narcissist. In my case it's not "raging hate." Its an amalgam of pity (for his utter lack of self control) and contempt for the guy. Jim Boeheim was a royal a$$ but, again, possessed the demeanor of a monk compared with Hurley.
I'm aware of how much abuse he took from the Seton Hall fans as a player, his third-fiddle status in the looming shadow that his father and brother cast, and his battle with deep depression and self-loathing as a result. I have great compassion for him, accordingly. All of that makes his behavior even more unseemly and contemptible.
I mean this is literally the description of every single Duke basketball game the last 30 years. It’s a mad lib where you simply swap out individual players and Duke’s opponent[duke player] has “committed” his third foul four times in the last three minutes. [opponent] breathes on Duke—foul. Duke mugging [opponent] every time and almost no calls. Wow. Not sure I’ve seen such a blatantly unfair whistle. [opponent] is living in the lane and zero calls.
All of these reorgs are hard to follow at times.Ug. Never mind.![]()
There's a reason why professional wrestling has survived as sports entertainment for decades. They always have the bad guy to root against. Entertainment is always better when you have the "bad guy" in the storyline.I agree with everything you've said, but I also think it's great for the sport as a whole to have such an unabashed [choose your own characterization - all of mine would/should trip the censor function...] for everyone else to root against.
This is priceless. He should have to play in the BIG with high kees and bald head on the regular.

This is something a lot of sports fans need to understand. There's a reason why professional wrestling has survived as sports entertainment for decades. They always have the bad guy to root against. Entertainment is always better when you have the "bad guy" in the storyline.
