Yeah, someone predicted a "Ben game," 6-9 from three... and that sounded great, but also about a 1%er.
That's the difference between high major elite shooters and mid major shooters. He needs way too much time. I understand why he's used to performing with that much time however bc he practices against our defense which is predicated on letting guys have all the time in the world to both shoot and run freely to receive the ball at their spots and freely start their actions.
If this is the expectation then BU is a great coach for your program.
But our expectations should be higher than this.
Yes, we are a better program than we were before BU got here. But we have lost in either the first or second round of the tournament in 4/5 of appearances coached by BU. He has had ample time and talent to show what he is capable of.

Will lost all aggressiveness as soon as he missed that first three. Which is ridiculous because it just rimmed out. Keep attacking!
It's always interesting to see where we all fall on the Loyalty Spectrum (TM). In contrast to you, I do not love Brad. I regard him as an expert, hired hand. As a very good coach. And he should do what he has to do to get his team to win more.
I am in no way saying your feelings are invalid -- I admire your perspective, in fact. And I am beginning to wonder if I have lost the proper perspective in my consuming desire to win.
All I can say, in my defense, is that I bet Brad Underwood feels exactly like I do: deeply disappointed, profoundly frustrated, and powerfully driven to do better next year.
They have to get a couple 4-5 year experience players on this team for next season.
We had better options last year than picking him up, but we did.
Okay. Fundamentals then. No matter how you chop this up... Coaching killed us this year.

Exactly - some players have a feel for the game and momentum. Ben does not.
Officiating is reliably attrocious. I am not excusing it, just remarking on what experience shows: reliably atrocious.
Which means: plan to win by 10 points, or else you are leaving the W/L decision in the hands of guys who could care less -- zebras.
I would add one even larger flaw—this team was soft and lacked physicality and some brute strength, Morez aside. That very much showed, IMO, against tougher opponents.

Uuuuuhhhh, no. We had two NBA first round draft picks, one of which of likely top 5 and a lottery pick. If we can't get out of the first weekend with that kind of talent and more, BU and the entire program does not get pass.
