Ben not attempting a shot today-with the money he is being paid-should be the nail in the coffin as far as bringing him back last year. Can’t have that.
Well it worked great the first month so I see why he was trying to get back there. Clearly never did though. This is what I was typing about earlier. He needs to be more openminded. KB should've been the PG all year. KJ off the ball.
Yeah, someone predicted a "Ben game," 6-9 from three... and that sounded great, but also about a 1%er.Ben not attempting a shot today-with the money he is being paid-should be the nail in the coffin as far as bringing him back last year. Can’t have that.
That's the difference between high major elite shooters and mid major shooters. He needs way too much time. I understand why he's used to performing with that much time however bc he practices against our defense which is predicated on letting guys have all the time in the world to both shoot and run freely to receive the ball at their spots and freely start their actions.Ben not attempting a shot today-with the money he is being paid-should be the nail in the coffin as far as bringing him back last year. Can’t have that.
If this is the expectation then BU is a great coach for your program. We got to the tournament.
We won a game.
I'd imagine we will have better options than bringing Ben back.Unacceptable to bring him back … Even if it’s free …
He is a momentum killer !!!!!!
What's the record for most turnovers in a season by a lottery pick?
And Will played like a Senior in High School.
It's always interesting to see where we all fall on the Loyalty Spectrum (TM). In contrast to you, I do not love Brad. I regard him as an expert, hired hand. As a very good coach. And he should do what he has to do to get his team to win more.I don’t know how to put into words where I am with Brad… I have tried but end up just saying “I love Brad BUT…”
It is legitimately mind-melting how low IQ his Illinois teams have looked on the court at times- particularly in big games. He talks about toughness but this team had ZERO fight all year when they got punched in the mouth.
I agree with something someone (don’t remember who) said earlier this year and it’s that Brad loses us 3-5 games and 3-5 players every year because of his stubbornness. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE that we’re bringing in talent and able to reload when we lose a lot, but why are we losing so much every year?? A lot of teams return guys, I want to as well.
Overall, even though not many will read this and even less will care. I am just tired of watching teams that routinely underperform and lie down when the moment gets too big. I think we can do better. I want Brad to be a part of it but if he can’t coach during a game? I mean, come on, what are we doing?
We had better options last year than picking him up, but we did.I'd imagine we will have better options than bringing Ben back.
Okay. Fundamentals then. No matter how you chop this up... Coaching killed us this year. For those who want to murder Brad for his gameplan and halftime adjustments, please tell me which schemes are more effective with lazy passes and soft receptions?
Are you forgetting about the half court heave-ho?Ben not attempting a shot today-with the money he is being paid-should be the nail in the coffin as far as bringing him back last year. Can’t have that.
On the contrary, I would be surprised if he didn't return as a bench player.I'd imagine we will have better options than bringing Ben back.
Exactly - some players have a feel for the game and momentum. Ben does not.Unacceptable to bring him back … Even if it’s free …
He is a momentum killer !!!!!!
Officiating is reliably attrocious. I am not excusing it, just remarking on what experience shows: reliably atrocious.
I'm still baffled by this. F'n atrocious officiating.
I would add one even larger flaw—this team was soft and lacked physicality and some brute strength, Morez aside. That very much showed, IMO, against tougher opponents. Two major flaws this season: live ball turnovers and mediocre defense. Yes, our offense had struggles at times, but you cannot overcome poor shooting by high turnovers and bad defense.
I think the biggest thing that sucks about that performance is we lost in exactly the way every single one of us could have predicted. That whole game could have simply been an email.
I would add the mental toughness, yes.I would add one even larger flaw—this team was soft and lacked physicality and some brute strength, Morez aside. That vey much showed, IMO, against tougher opponents.
Uuuuuhhhh, no. We had two NBA first round draft picks, one of which of likely top 5 and a lottery pick. If we can't get out of the first weekend with that kind of talent and more, BU and the entire program does not get pass. The season is obviously still disappointing, but people really need to put things in context. The sky is not falling. Regroup and reload for next year.
