Just my opinion. DGL. Booth. Morez will transfer. Lose KJ and WR to NBA. Another rebuild

Ben not attempting a shot today-with the money he is being paid-should be the nail in the coffin as far as bringing him back last year. Can’t have that.
Great, only took the entire season to realize what was evident to even the most casual fan in month 1 of the season.

Our best shot was that Ayo Kofi team and we let porter moser out coach us. Hoping Brad can continue to warrant my love and support.

I have been very retained posting post game comments other than a few likes and quick comments on others post, but the season is over so what the h@ll I am breaking my rule, and yes alcohol could be involved.
Brad is a very good coach, glad to see him very engaged today. Cant coach the season long stupid turn overs or bad shooting. Maybe he missed on composition of this team, but on paper they should have excelled. That's on the players.
Say good bye to Hammer , Send KJ back to Europe to play powder puff ball, keep KB, Rez, Tomi, White at all costs, get a true 3 point guy, and a mean junk yard dog for a wing, serious upgrade to staff for defense and toughness, make Tre and Tomi live with Flecht this off season.
That's all, fire away, back to drowning this season out. Cheers Loyalty is has been a wild ride. Wish it had been better for everyone involved!

Oh oh, time to get the razor out and shave your head (ripping is too harsh!): it is clear that both kids will be drafted, if they want, and it also clear that neither is close to ready to play in the NBA now. That isn't so hard to see, is it?

It was a fine season, wanted a second weekend. Huge offseason ahead, I will have more information these coming hours for ya'll as to where things stand.

ILL
Honestly, sad take. Two major misses on two (of the 3?) highest paid starters and no adjustments throughout the year.

Uuuuuhhhh, no. We had two NBA first round draft picks, one of which of likely top 5 and a lottery pick. If we can't get out of the first weekend with that kind of talent and more, BU and the entire program does not get pass.
KJ is dropping like a rock in most of the mocks. He will not be a lottery pick. Will really needs to come back and put some weight on. I know first round is hard to pass up but he could be a star in college or get buried on a G league team

If I have to read another post saying KJ and WR are "not ready for the NBA" one more time I will rip my hair out.

He will still be playing in America next year...it simply won't be here or at the collegiate level.

I've cooled down now.

- 6 seed, 1 win in the tournament and lost to a 3 seed. I think we are more talented then that but we had real warts as a team. Not tough enough, too many turnovers, too young and inexperienced.

- Will 1-7. He's going to the NBA but he IS NOT ready. My fear for him is just being stashed in the G-League and forgot about...he is nowhere near strong enough for the NBA and will get abused and pushed around. It just sucks. The correct thing to do is stay one more year with Fletch, dominate as a Sophmore and go in the lottery next year.

But that's not how things work. It's a shame.

- KJ will go top 20...maybe top 10 because I don't think this draft is as good as people think it is. He'll find minutes in the NBA...he just was never as good as I hoped after those first handful of games.

- Next year...Tomi could be really good with a great off-season, same with Morez. Kylan should be back and in top form. Should be a very interesting off-season.

How much money are you talking about? Did he make more than KJ?

Understand ur point about resources but think how many players have under performed NIL wise

I personally would prefer a team based and performance based payouts

For instance 50k for 20 win season 50k making tournament 25k for every tournament win with a 100k national championship bonus. 50k bonus for either a conference tournament or regular season championship. So this year all players 125k

For the payer 25k 50k 75k for being 3rd 2nd or 1st all conference team

100k for all American

Plus any signing bonus u think a player should earn. U could change values to match resources vs expectations but that would promote team over individual

Rutgers had two lottery picks and didn’t even make the tournament, talent alone is not enough. We were just too young and inexperienced.

Alright, my promised emotional hot takes … emphasis that these will be both emotional and hot takes, lol.

1. I bet he’s a nice kid, he’s obviously extremely talented, he clearly even gives great physical effort at times and I understand this is unfair … but I don’t remember a player in my lifetime who seems so unbothered by underperforming as KJ. And it pi$$es me off, and I’m ready for it to be done. When you’re getting embarrassed and a fire needs to be lit, sometimes it’s simply a bad look to be trotting around like it’s all good, bro

2. On that note, in a scenario where our NBA prospect freshmen got feedback where they needed another year … give me Will 11 times out of 10. Both drove me crazy at times, but I can envision a sophomore Will that goes down as one of my favorite Illini ever. I imagine a sophomore KJ as a slightly better shooter who still makes half-!!! turnovers and plays like it’s a scrimmage.

3. I’m starting to worry that Brad needs players with special attitudes to get through to his guys and make the full team tough. Ayo was special in this regard. So was Trent. So was TSJ. Even Kylan, who seems like the only one who was actually angry today, still trots about and is casual far too often. So who is going to step up next year and not let the casual BS fly? Who will be brought in to be a leader if no one is capable? This team is playing next weekend if it had strong and consistent player leadership like those past guys, pure and simple.

4. We saw what a lack of continuity does this year. Will we be so stupid as to let a single key returning piece get away for a supposed upgrade in raw talent??

5. Last and least seriously … I’m honestly starting to get so mad about the uniforms. I refuse to believe there’s some numb skull somewhere who gives two thoughts to what uniform we should wear each game and keeps deciding it should be the 1LL1NO1S defaults.
I agree with you of what you said mostly the word "continuity". In the past players were on the same team from Frosh to Senior and developed watching and being coach by the the same. Guys played for the front of the jerseys and their adoring fans. I realize this is out of date but damn, Heart, Loyalty and Pride of School shouldn't be. Lets turn it around 25-26.

I haven't been a fan of Underwood since the Loyola debacle. Hes not a good coach. It's time Illinois moves on.

That’s an incredibly talented team that just bowed out in R2.

Frustrating season.
Talented, but too young to have the ability to close most of the year and handle the pressure of a 1 and done.

Look at all those games we couldn't finish, probably cost us a couple seed lines and different opponent.

These older, veteran led teams are the ones doing the work, or at least teams with stacked 5☆ freshmen that understand the moment and how to get through it.

Brad had 0 fire this year until round 1, maybe he has lost it

Probably worth noting a not-insignificant amount of Rutgers fans want Steve Pikiell fired for that.
