Unfortunately any player like Conwell who is rated at or near the top of the portal is going to be out of our reach. Illinois has not established itself as a top destination like the blue bloods and won't get any of them unless they specifically want to move closer to home like Boswell or want to come play for Brad. I like Brad and he's the coach for me as long as he wants to stay but let's be realistic. There's not many kids growing up thinking I want to go play for Brad Underwood some day. Our best bet is to keep pulling a player or two from overseas and hope another school with more money or notoriety doesn't scoop them away from us after we put them on everyone's radar. Despite some misses here and there our staff has been proven to recognize talent and potential.

He's the most sought after....for now...until bigger names and better players make their decisions

Not saying this dude is not good...far from it, but the portal takes time to mature...some players are still in the tourney...some waiting to see how chips fall...lots of mitigating circumstances. But he shoots 40% from 3's, physical, athletic...can't go too wrong

Conwell would be a great player for us to get. I hope that 10 to 15 more players rated higher than him get in the portal before he commits. That way we might actually have a chance at him. That being said I don't see any reason he won't follow Miller to Texas. Miller would be crazy not to do everything he can to bring him with him.

Dent is best available overall imo

Conwell a close 2nd

Our staff generally has good eyes for players so I am not surprised this happens all the time.

I was being literal with Damonte.

I dont see how a guy who has taken one 3PA across 3 years is going to drastically feel better on the perimeter, particularly after a year not playing in a game.

If you're telling me he's taking DGLs minutes, sure.

A full year to work with Fletch would work wonders for him. He got off knocked off balance pretty easily early on. If he was even half as strong as Domask, he would actually be effective at booty ball and possibly be a more consistent shooter. I would still love to have him back in a 15 mpg role.
