This … Lot of talk at the combine that Clements would join staff as an analyst if he can work some things out on his end …

It may or may not work out … But he’s a name to monitor as a potential staff addition …
a little off topic, but Indy, was Cam Skattebo really all that?
I really kinda fell in love, in a football way of course, with him in the CFP playoff game vs Texas.

dude make my famous all name team, THATS FOR SURE

You will not find a bigger Cam Skattebo fan than me …

Any NFL GM that doesn’t have him on their board is an idiot and should be fired …

Terrible news that bad things were afoot. But I am particularly interested in the note that Andrew Luck made the decision. What really are these "GM roles" in football programs? At first I thought they were just a middle tier off the field coordinator of sorts underneath the HC who just focused on building out a roster (recruiting/retention/etc.). But this must mean that at Stanford the HC reports to Luck as basically a tier below the AD? That seems unique. And why even bother noting that in the tweet? What other coach is fired decision hasn't been by the AD or the University/Board? Weird, but interesting.

I think you'll find as many job descriptions for GM at the college football level as there are programs.

I've felt that Andrew Luck took the GM position as an "AD in waiting" position. Remember his father was a long-time Division 1 athletic director. If I'm guessing, his position is pretty much what you would envision for a NFL GM who has final say over all matters involving the football program.

Stanford's AD is also leaving his post at the end of their academic year, so not only does "this is Andrew Luck's decision" offer credibility with making an unusual decision like this, he's also someone who is going to be around to work with the successor.

The emergence of that football program under Harbaugh and David Shaw was probably even more amazing than it got credit for. That said, you would imagine NIL world might be promising for a school with an army of local and global deep pocketed alums.

Don't know if it's related but he has had issues in recent months with credit card debt that were bad enough he got taken to court for it. He had issues making the monthly payments and exceeding the credit limit of $20k.

Dude was investigated, warned to stop the conduct at issue, and kept doing it anyway. He also went 3-9 in back-to-back seasons. You can't do both. If you want to be a miserable jerk nobody wants to work with you have to make yourself indispensable and win a boatload of games. If you want to go 3-9 in back-to-back seasons you have to be someone everyone respects and loves to work for/with.

it might as well be until 2049, as he isnt staying any longer than a year or two anyway
and I will happily say that he has done way better there than I thought he would, I just don't think he stays that long, is all

Yeah, you'd better have a Florida Basketball-type season to get away with it.
