That’s what it looks like to me. Not sure if that’s a tourney team though.

We need a proven scoring guard next to Kylan. A necessity. Not sure if it's the absolute best we could do, but after Dix, the only name we've truly heard as a possibility is Storr.

I've shifted from neutral to somewhat negative on Underwood, but even I don't think our lineup will be this bad.

There will be guys coming back from testing the NBA waters. There's always guys that wait for the frenzy to die down, and otherwise, I'm sure they'll just go back to Europe.

But, maybe if we didn't have to replace an entire team every year, we wouldn't have these problems. It is hard to recruit a guy to be a 6th or 7th man when there are tons of other teams offering a starting spot.

What’s the
If you give $5m to Riley, you have very little to give anyone else. So the roster around him would suck. And it’s still a risk to Riley to come back and go from mid 1st to higher. Just don’t see any of that happening.
budget? Do we $5M left now after the guys we already have plus Z? If so, give it to Wil and find a cheap or nearly free depth big man (or two).

IMO - Underwood HAS to have an “elite” talent, a big time scorer to be successful. Ayo or TSJ or KJ before the injury.

Other than Wil, who can we get that can take over a game on offense? Is Sarr that type of player? Even if he is, I’d prefer a 2nd yr of Wil.

Probably lineup now is looking something like:

Ty
BAM
???? (Sarr?, RILEY?)
Z
Tomi

Bench of
Jake
Ben
2 freshman.

Need that “elite” wing and some more muscle inside.
That's less a Brad thing and more of a universal truth thing lol. But i think in theory Sarr/Riley is the answer to that with Tomi and a shooter in secondary scoring roles.

If you were going to through money around like that I’d give Morez $1.5M and still $3.5M to through around

I think the Ivisic twins play at times together but it wont be most if the time. We need a 6'9" or 6'10 type guy that can rebound, guard bigs in the post, move laterally, and hopefully hit a bit from outside the lane. We struggle guarded some quality 4s in the post. Hopefully the twins can get stronger and be improved post defenders.

3/5 of these guys won't be starting come the first game of the season. Plenty of adds to come.
Is there any world where Will is currently seeking NBA feedback right now and has been told youre out of the range (that he has decided for himself) and the Dix pivot has opened up conversations to stay for another year to try and work towards being a lottery pick?

I might pass out of that somehow comes to fruition or is even a slight possibility.

When BU came up short in the portal last year and the sky was falling (who can forget the exhausting whining over Storr?), he shocked everyone with his stellar euro recruits. Plan A, B and C may collapse but Brad will always end up with a strong roster. Be patient and trust.
Very early in portal season. Post NBA camp should be some real quality players. Also overseas and reclasses. We could have taken Fears as reclass instead of KJ. They both ended up being one and done lottery candidates.

KJ, Tomas and Will were all late adds. Our first 4 adds were Carey, Jake, Tre and Kylan (late March early April)

Brad staff works incredibly hard on recruiting. JMO - much harder than other teams and prior Illinois coaching staffs. We used to sign lottery tickets in spring that were gone after a year. Now we sign players that get drafted into NBA lottery round.

We got bounced from the tournament two weeks ago and have supposedly been having back channel conversations with the guys we want for months so why does it feel like we are unprepared or lagging behind everyone else?

I'm pretty new to this message board and enjoying reading all the back and forth, but from what I have seen, no one here knows much of anything until it's official. It is fun to follow the smoke screens whether it be on this forum or on twitter though. As long as we end up with a solid team at the end.

Roster construction is a huge miss on brad from last year, which is due to missing on guys they really wanted early. Talented guys are good, but we didn't get the Kasparas we wanted, half a season from Riley, inconsistency from tre, bricks and no D from Richouse, and a lack of defense from just about everyone. Tomi was consistently good at least when he played.
