Iowa is not in a great spot right now (LvilleILL1)
- Des Moines, IA
I’d like to find a job where I can be as bad as Zach Hamer is at his job and still keep it. That must be nice.
Indy - There’s been a lot of talk (like Williard) that Big East teams will have more NIL in the future given they don’t have to support football programs in the either/or argument.Simply not true but okay …
Also it does feel like Brad has shown he's not afraid to move on (both players and coaches) when he thinks there is a better opportunity out there, and this seems to be the most obvious one. Does he just have a blind spot related to Tyler (and Hamer by extension)?Totally agree. What I can’t understand…This isn’t Brad’s first rodeo so if something isn’t working, and it clearly wasn’t, why didn’t he say, screw this, we are doing something else?
I’m trying to figure out how someone on an internet board saying a particular player is coming to Illinois and being wrong about it impacts expectations for a season. You think if we didn’t have insiders on the board, speculation or information that turned out not to pan out wouldn’t happen? Not sure why someone saying we’re in a good spot with a player is the cause of people jumping the gun and posting speculative starting lineups on here. I find those posts silly and skip right over them just as I skip over the posts on lineups using only the players currently on the roster, as if no other adds will be made. What are the expectations? I was expecting a full roster given commentary from Monday. Denzel was making a ton of visits in this very board.
I will say this and this is partially to defend Brad and to partially bring reality back to the minds of our angry villagers.
There was a lot of hot takes that Brad was a top 10 paid head coach and we had top 10 NIL money. Neither are true with the latter not being remotely true. It's how we ended up with the youngest roster in college basketball, with our top 3 players being young, international kids(Riley, Tomi and KJ). The fact that Brad glued that together last year and had us within a half of the Sweet 16.....not bad.
We get outspent, plain and simple. The expectations start with who's on our roster and our booms were false alarms. So, here we are again, losing the players on last year's roster, missing on our transfer targets and leaning into the Euro market.
As we sit here on Final Four Saturday.....what's the expectation?
Narrator: He was.I feel like I just want to disassociate from next year’s team if there aren’t changes to who’s running the defense and even offense. Just have no faith that we’ll get the most out of our talent with the current staff in their current roles. Hope I’m just being overdramatic![]()

That’s a tangy rumor….There’s some buzz that a Big 12 job could open …

What if the move is Sampson retiring? He will be 70 before the start of next season. If you are going to make a move, what is gained by waiting? I’d think with the portal it would be the sooner the better?
Tre White back in the portal? /sWhen I was Young

I could potentially see Sampson riding into the sunset if he wins a title but Kellen Sampson already has a contract designating him the head coach in waiting when Kelvin retires. What if the move is Sampson retiring? He will be 70 before the start of next season.
