miller monsanto sarr

get it done.

or Stojaković instead of monsanto if he goes to the portal and we can fork over the money.
Just a guess here, but I think Peja's kid is a pipe dream. All the big boys will be after him, and Illinois won't have the NIL money to compete with that. I'm not even sure if he'll enter the portal.

I've seen nothing that says the Illini staff is targeting Monsanto at all, either. At the end of PORTAL MADNESS, I think Illinois will round out its class with Sarr and a bench piece of some sort. Not sure who that'll be.

we’ve struggled to land those “big fish” in the NIL portal and end up defaulting to the Euro model out of necessity rather than choice it seems.
I don't like this analytical framework where we count Elliot Cadeau as a "big fish" for Michigan but Kylan Boswell doesn't count as a "big fish" for us.

And then getting TSJ and Hawkins to return, pulling KJ and Tomi over from Europe and Will Riley forward from the HS junior class, coaxing Ty, Boswell and Tomi to stay, these are big money moves even though none of them go up on the 247 scoreboard.

You could denigrate that if the intra-NCAA transfer market were clearly the best source for instant impact success, but hasn't the evidence so far been the exact opposite? Would you have rather had Myles Rice and Oumar Ballo than KJ and Tomi?

Anything on Jason Jakstys?

The kid ain’t a big ten caliber player. I don’t understand this.

Our donors don’t think we need an upgrade over Ben?

He is not a fit … Period …

Guys like him do not play on Big Ten Championship and National Championship caliber teams …
Frankie Fidler? You need role players in the salary cap world. Did he live up to expectations? No. Should he be playing 25 minutes? Probably not, but guys like him definitely play on big ten championship teams. If he can make 38%+ from three next year and continue to make defensive strides, we'll be just fine.

If the kids are actually doing the evaluating, then we are truly screwed. Yuck

You really think him as a 7th man is that bad? Or you just don’t have faith the staff won’t give him a bunch of minutes again?

Not exactly a fan of Ben H...... But willing to wait and see his role and if his play takes a leap before I feel one way or another about his retention.

This is controversial… but I’m glad to take humrichous back IF his role is appropriate. Looking at his stats it’s clear to me that if he had just hit shots at a better rate, few people would be reluctant to get him back. I know that most peoples understanding is that he was brought here to hit shots, and that is true. However, similar to Kylan Boswell, I expect him to make a big jump with shot making ability.

Ben was 3rd on the team in blocks (trailed T and Morez) and 4th in steals (trailed T, KB, And KJ). On top of this Evan Miya put him as 4th on the team in DBPR (ahead of Boswell).

All that being said, I only think he’s a plus player if Brad underwood uses him correctly and he hits his shots. Will that happen? Like I said, he’ll make the jump shooting wise but I am one of little faith in Brads ability to truly adjust.
