Better than just a consolation prize I'd say. I'd prefer him over Sarr, honestly. More proven in college even if Sarr's ceiling is higher.Jamir Watkins would be a great consolation prize for us if we don't get Sarr. Get old. Stay old.
We have a pretty good idea of what it's going to look like-what we already have plus:
Ben likely back.
Big money wing.
Guard at the 2.
Backup guard at the 1/2.
No, it's not Watkins or bust, but Watkins is an option. To continue the tradition
Are we at the point we're Jamir Watkins or bust?
He checks everyof what is needed right now. Big physical athletic wing that can get and finish at the hoop. Desperately needed.
Watkins is FAR from a consolation prize.Jamir Watkins would be a great consolation prize for us if we don't get Sarr. Get old. Stay old.
We've been saying some variation of this, collectively, since at least mid-season, if not well before. The fact that we're several weeks into the offseason and have yet to see any changes with the coaching staff, and no inkling of coming changes, is extremely concerning. Perhaps BU wants to have everything lined up before it makes itself public? I doubt that fully explains the silence. We've would've heard scuttlebutt one way or another. That leads me to believe that Brad is not going to make any staff changes prior to next year. If that ends up being true, it may be the biggest black eye on Underwood's tenure to date. People have rightly nitpicked the in-game adjustments for a long time, but BU has excelled at the program building aspect of college bball, which is far more important than any in-game Xs and Os. If he starts to lose his edge on the program side, then faith in him is going to drop quickly (as evidenced by the tidbits from Indy).1. JW will find the money to bring in top tier assistant coaches. Brad needs to eliminate the coaching nepotism, crap defensive schemes, and horrible in game decisions. Bring in a couple proven, highly skilled coaches to help with player development, strategy, schemes, and in game decisions. Brad needs to focus on self awareness and realize that if coaches don’t want to be here then he is likely part of, or most of, that problem.
It’s sucks we waste so much time with recruiting, building relationships - especially with the euros. So much opportunity cost. I feel like their aren’t many programs who have done more and gotten less so far this portal season.Jackson and Sarr are not the options at this point. They are specifically focused on a couple of others.
One of my law school friends once told me that whenever she gets really stressed out she remembers that we are all going to die one day and in relation to that, none of what is stressing you out in that moment matters at all. Not even a little bit.
Disturbing and calming at the same time.
Watkins > SarrWatkins is FAR from a consolation prize.
